In today's mail, my wife & I got our mail-in ballots. Tomorrow, we'll fill them out, seal them & sign the envelope. And then we can send them in!

Which shall we use, the US Postal Service, or a Ballot Drop Box? There are nearly 60 drop boxes, at various locations around the county. Back in 2020, the pandemic and the wide spread fears of a possibly corrupted postal service created the need for these boxes. I used a drop box in 2020, and I'll probably do it again this election.

Now, if only sending in my ballot ended the incessant TV ads and fund raising emails. I can only dream ;).

Seriously, I have no life.
Boy, those drop boxes are looks to be armored. :D
I was reading not that long ago how slow the mail is and postage costs somebody. Drop boxes are picked up at least once a day, I think.

I'm cheap, I use the drop box, which is just down the hill from me. Haven't received ballot yet, tho.

ps Ours look more like a mail box (with just a slot....no hold open door thingie.

I'm going in person this time around just like the last two times Trump was involved.
Just makes me feel better taking him down more personally.
(I do mail-in for the other elections)
Hopefully some Trumpers will be outside and get in my face. (Big Mistake for them)

The use of the ballot box is as personal as it gets here (Oregon, all mail-in)

As it should be everywhere, and will be someday.
The old somewhat true adage that Dems just don't vote most of the time is falling apart with mail-in.

Trump strongly opposes a number of things.

Some because he stands to benefit for obvious political or personal reasons. For example, tax cuts for the wealthy.

Others for no rational reason. For example, for example low-flow shower heads, or neck ties down below his belt. There is no rational reason why he opposes them. I think his opposition to early voting is similarly irrational.

That's the kind of guy he is … no difference exists between the rational and the irrational.

Those drop boxes are big. They are built for drive-up ballot drops. They might also be armored too. I wouldn't know.

In 2020 when I first used one, there were only a few at first, with more & more appearing each week. The first drop box was on the side walk outside the County Elections Office. When we went there to drop our ballots off, a policeman in a car was prominently visible in the parking lot. Yes, there was that much fear about election interference, even in September. As we later learned, that fear wasn't irrational.

I've seen some ballot drop boxes covered by video surveillance cameras, and I've also seen boxes surrounded by concrete-filled steel posts like this:

For anyone that is interested, Canada is primarily vote at assigned polling stations. You can vote early at an assigned polling station or at an Elections Canada office. To vote by mail requires a specific application form along with proof of identity. You can not apply to vote by mail until after an election is called and mail in votes are differentiated as voting by special ballot. I kind of enjoy going to the polling station, which is usually within a local church. Waiting line is not too long for the most part and if you did not receive a voting card in the mail they are pretty efficient at getting you registered on the spot.

Considering the very high rate of early voting it's likely not that advantageous of Trump to disparage early voters. In 2020 it was 64% early voting but then there was also COVID-19.

In USA some, like soldiers, could vote early in 1864, so it's not something new, as the YouTube clip below shows.

Waiting on my mail in ballot I checked and it's on the way. I'll probably fill it in the day I get it and put it in the mail. Thats what I did in 2020, and it worked out ok for me. Plus, I don't even know where the closest drop boxes are. :)

And yet the Donald votes by mail. :(
He can even vote as a convicted felon living in Florida as he was convicted in New York and not currently incarcerated. Florida GOP is very much against felons voting but here we are.

Governor Desantis has said he would make sure Trump gets to vote. :(

My Wisconsin mail in ballot was in the mail yesterday. My wife goes to our designated area building to vote, which happens to be 5 blocks from our house. They are school gyms in our city. Very smooth and easy.

For a minute I thought the number is an error. Interesting video and the archives part.
