Highly unlikely you are going to find that kind of information on a 23 year old projector that wasn't very well regarded. He would have to find older equipment with analog component video outs, and then he would be very restricted to program. Digital video can no longer be converted to analog because of DRM.

He said it was unused. My guess is that he bought it at some action or other, may be an estate auction. He likely thought the unit was worth a fortune and bid far too much for it.
