Seriously, I have no life.
When was that picture taken? Now what is online for him now, nor the image I remember him live in the last number of years.

Or, is that a fake image?

Why is dem running against Jordan if the House is red? Guess I don't understand the house process.
It's like this.
Anyone can be nominated to be the "speaker of the house." Hakeem was nominated by someone in the house.
He received 212 votes but that is not enough to be a winner.
That position supposed to be non-partisan but when the majority is of the same party who won the speaker position, then it is hard not to be apolitical.

That's rather odd to me, or I just don't understand. If the GOP has the House, shouldn't the majority speaker be a Republican?

Think I agree with Cheney on this. If the GOP elected Jordan than won't the GOP risk losing the House? The media is going to run OSU and Stop the Steal like wildfire.

I liked the one where the Republican said, That was 30 years ago! Regarding the OSU scandal. However, thats a difficult incident to recover from LOL.

So now they're competing for majority?
Not unless someone in office leaves the Republican party or resigns from the House. The balance of the seats hasn't changed but if McCarthy backs out and a Democrat replaces him by special election, I guess they could thumb wrestle for it.

Seems to me it's you own the House and your trying to find a Republican for majority.

The GOP has majority though. It should be settled by Republicans.
The Speaker needs a simple majority of the votes cast on the House floor, that’s all, assuming there’s a quorum to begin with. Any vote cast as “present” is not counted and reduces the number of votes needed for a simple majority.

Why should the Democrats help elect a Republican Speaker unless they get some concessions? Especially someone like Jordan?

Why was (D) Jeffries running against Jordan?
Don't know, didn't know it was possible for one side to run against the other when that side had the majority. Probably figured that it was worth a shot.
