If I heard that right it does not look like Jim Jordan has enough votes for speaker. I hope anyway.
Democrats better look out! It looks like common sense has broken out among the GOP in Congress. Well … almost broken out. Scalise (despite being treated* for multiple myeloma) won the GOP caucus vote, 113-99. He still has to get 217 votes to win as Speaker on a House floor vote.
"Gym Shorts" Jordan didn't have enough votes – apparently Matt Gaetz's antics took all the wind out his sails.
* Treatments for multiple myeloma have improved greatly over the past 20 years. Patients can live much longer than they previously could. However, these treatments cannot cure them. I don't know any disease or treatment details for Scalise, only that he is 58 years old, and his disease was apparently detected early. As all Senators & Congressmen do, he has excellent health care and medical insurance.
Speaking personally, I hope Steve Scalise's treatments work very well, that he lives a long time, and that he becomes an avid Congressional supporter of cancer research. The research that the National Cancer Institute sponsored 30-years ago, led to the treatments he is now receiving. That's money well spent.
