And to the shock of no one, I finally decided I wanted more and just ordered a pair of PB16 Ultras

Only two? Come on, you're bigbassdave after all! :)
Haha, When I joined this forum 19 years ago, I was working a minimum wage gig at circuit city. I was basically there for the 70% discount on Polk and Infinity. These have been a dream for a VERY long time. Only took me nearly two decades to live up to my name lol.
Things are a lot different in my life now, but yeah. Two will have to suffice as I’d like to stay married

I have also been entertaining adding a small sub to my system. The Infinity P363s that I have are rated down to 38 plus or minus 3 db. I have a test cd and can hear faint response down to 32. Still, I could add a SVS SB100 which is rated down to 22 from amazon for under $500. Tempting but not sure if it would be suitable for a multi-unit condo.

I had ported subs in here but for music, they were basically idling. Now I have a pair of sealed Dayton RSS 12" and it ended up being more than enough, since they will still report down into the low 20s. It appears as if the bass in the music I listen to rolls off in much the same way and they track the bass notes of bass guitar very well.

I thought perhaps bigbassdave was an avid bass fisherman after trophy bass only.

What do you mean idling?

Gain was almost at 0. They were overkill for the amount of space they took up. Buddy loaned it to me when he was trying to sell me on adding a sub. He's the one who blocked the ports and discovered that a sealed would work satisfactorily in here. That one was a 15". I replaced it with two sealed 12s.

Just managed to sneak in a Panny UB9000 before my wife finally told me, if I don't take a break, she will kill me and make it look like an accident

Ordered one SVS SB100 Pro for my 2 channel system. Liked it so much I bought another. Agree once you hear a subwoofer you can’t unhear it and you’re hooked. Bought the first one through SVS then got a great open-box deal on the basic black vinyl finish at $450 each on Amazon. SVS has great customer service. They help with any questions including setup etc. after the sale and returns are very easy if necessary.

Absolutely. I had used polks, infinity, triads, and entry level velodyne subs prior to getting the PB2000’s a year ago. I’m never going back to box store stuff. It’s a world of difference

What was I thinking not buying a couple of these when I first learned of them on Audioholics many years ago?!?

The purpose of this post isn't to review the subs, it's just to say WOW. I've been a forum member here for 18 years, and I've wanted to hear an SVS sub for most of that time. Well ladies and gentlemen, if you haven't heard about santoku knives, drop what you're doing and order one (hell, order two) now. With the 45 day no questions asked return policy, you have nothing to lose.

My wife, whom I've decided I shall keep, ordered me a PB 2000 from the SVS Outlet for Christmas. The sub ended up showing up after the holiday, so I had some time to browse Craigslist and Offerup. While waiting for the 2000 to arrive, I found a 1 year old mint PB12-NSD for a great price. After running both of these, I have some initial observations.

First, I'm done with big box store subwoofers. As in NEVER AGAIN.

Second, These subs have forced me to completely rethink what a home theater subwoofer should sound like... Better yet, how it should perform.

Third, I had never experienced sub 20hz bass before. Turns out I like it. I like it A LOT.

Lastly, I want all of you to experience the jaw dropping joy I felt when I calibrated and fired these behemoths up. So please, show yourself some respect and buy yourself a sub from SVS Post haste!
how annoying can this be to transport in different room/ house occasionally?

Looks good. From my experience traveling when you get home be sure to kiss your wife before hugging your new subs lol

Well, got them both placed and connected. As soon as they hit AT ALL, 2 of my 3 power amps go into protect mode and my lights dim like a son of a gun as they are thumping.

Guess I’ll need them on their own circuits. Not surprising, but I was hoping I wouldn’t need to.

Wow must have sounded awesome before it hit the fan. That’s a challenge running all the equipment At full tilt. Had my basement wired for the power I needed when I had it finished and my contractor thought I was nuts. Good luck!
