Adding an external power amp to my AVR

Hi,

I have an Arcam AVR 850 receiver and have a 5.1 setup.

I'm trying to find an amplifier to add for either 2 or 3 channels since I have real good speakers for LCR channels.

My AVR 850 specs for the preamp outs are:
Preamplifier outputs:
Nominal output level: 1V RMS

My question is in regards to matching an amp to power L/R or LCR speakers but currently am looking at the NAD M23 or PS Audio M700s.

The input sensitivity on the NAD M23 highest gain is 29dB but the recommended power amp for the preamp outs on my AVR needs 31dB so in voltage I think it's 1v for my preamp outs and 1.6v for the NAD M23.

Do you think it's going to be a problem ? How will that affect my system ? I'm a little unsure.

Thanks!

According to the M23 datasheet, it needs 1.4 V for 200 W 8 ohms if you select the high gain setting (29.2 dB).
The AVR850 can output >3 V so there is no problem for the combination.

The trouble found in the ASR test that HD linked appeared to be bug related, that should have been fixed by now but to be sure, you can contact Arcam for an official response.
