DEEZER is no longer on ROKU

Hello again.
The music streaming service DEEZER is no longer available on the ROKU streaming platform. Bummer for me. In the past, I listened to DEEZER on ROKU, and I used my T.V. screen as the interface/navigation with the ROKU remote control. it was relatively enjoyable. Today, If you still wish to use a T.V. interface with DEEZER, yuo have to download it to your Android smart TV. So, that's what I did. It was very slow and awful to use. Very slow. I ask you guys for some help. Is there a streaming device, set top box, etc.., that can stream DEEZER and allow the listener to use the streamng device remote control and T.V. screen as the DEEZER interface? To be clear, I wish to navigate DEEZER with the streaming device remote control like I did when DEEZER was still available on ROKU. On ROKU, the listener only needed his ROKU remote control for the DEEZER app. Currently on DEEZER, a listener/subscriber can use a smartphone/tablet/laptop as the interface. I do not have internet on my phone, so that is a non-starter. So, I am asking if anyone knows of a streaming device that I can hook up to my T.V. that offers an on screen T.V. interface. Thank you again, I await some feedback.

Shame about the app. Have you no Smart phones or tablets connected to your wifi network?

I forgot to ask about a network connected receiver that may also be able to stream DEEZER. Have you one?

Hi. Yes, my ONKYO AV Receiver streams DEEZER. It is terrible. Slow, choppy, very difficult to navigate.

I do not like using my smartphone to navigate/interface with DEEZER. Up until ROKU got rid of DEEZER, I was using the ROKU DEEZER app, on screen T.V. interface. It was relatively easy to navigate. I am hoping to find aother way to interface with DEEZER other than a smartphone/laptop/tablet.

Deezer does list their supported platforms on their website. They are not included, it appears, on almost any of the TV streaming devices which are popular, like FireTV, Roku, or AppleTV, but are available for Android TV, so likely the nVidia Shield would offer an interface. Also, Chromecast should work.

Hi.Thanks for the suggestions. I tried DEEZER on my SONY Android TV. Wow was it awful. Almost as bad as the DEEZER on my ONKYO. I am now actively looking into buying an NVIDIA Shield. I had no idea how pricey those NVDIA's are when shipped to Canada. Regarding Chromecast, I think my ONKYO AV receiver has Chromecast built in as a native feature. I tried DEEZER on it, and again, the interface was unbearable. I could not navigate without getting frustrated. I am missing DEEZER on ROKU more and more now. Thanks again for the reply. Appreciated.

I have another question. I am assuming that an actual individual "Google Chromecast" device is much more powerful than Chromecast on an ONKYO AV receiver. Would you advise buying an actual Google Chromecast device?

I don't know anything about DEEZER, but the Nvidia Shield is available here in Canada at Best Buy. I bought the Pro and it was ~270$ if I remember correctly.

Not sure which model you have but on my Onkyo TX-NR7100 Deezer runs fine. It's neither slow or choppy.

I create playlists on my phone or on the computer and play them on the AVR.

You can't expect AVR's to have GUI's like phones or computers. Come on now.

I will honestly say that I have no idea how Deezer works on individual platforms. I've never used it before. I will say that while stand alone devices, like Roku or AppleTV, are typically a good deal better than what is built into TVs, receivers, or Blu-ray Disc players. But, that doesn't mean that the app they are using is good. The 10 foot interface that is used in most products is developed by the product manufacturer. That means that Deezer is responsible for creating the interface that most manufacturers will use, and the fact that it is slow, choppy, weak, is a Deezer issue more than anything else. It was not up to Roku to keep Deezer on the platform, it was up to Deezer to ensure Roku had a working interface. Reach out to Deezer and let them know you used it regularly and aren't happy it is gone. Explain how bad the interface is on the other products you've tried.

While I haven't used Deezer, I'm a big fan of there being options and I think they need to put their best foot forward across multiple platforms. Deezer may be focused on ensuring their iOS and Android interface is the strongest it can be, which may not leave them the resources to develop a good and proper interface for other platforms or a really solid 10 foot interface.

I didn’t see Roku on the list of Deezer partners. I’ve used several services on my Onkyos. Supported services change as deals change. Deezer lossless sounded ok but didn’t sound as good as other services through the built in Onkyo app. The iOS app looks great and is one of my favorite music service apps.

While using the remote controller for music service apps may be clunky for some, the Onkyo Controller app makes selecting music service apps easy provided one has a Smart device to do such things.

I have an ONKYO TX-RZ830. I know. I do not expect an AV receiver to do as well as a streaming device. I mentioned how I do not like using my phone or laptop/tablet to navigate DEEZER. That is why I posted here looking for some help in finding another streaming device that offers DEEZER. A few of the other members have suggested Chromecast, NVIDIA Shield so far.
Thanks anyway.

My Onkyo TX-R830 does not provide for the best interface experience for the user. My issues are not so much with the sound as they are with the navigation/interface. Interface is not good or easy with the DEEZER native app on the Onkyo 830.

I reached out to ROKU, and they said "DEEZER" is no longer offered on ROKU.

Can you kindly explain what you mean by "solid 10 foot interface"?

Similarily, Crave no longer works on my Samsung TVs having to go through ROKU instead.

I use internet streaming radio stations for my music via Denon AVR. No issues. I also have Roku, but have not tried their FREE music channels, which looks limited. My Denon gives me my favorite listings I have chosen and that is about all I need. Two clicks on the Denon remote and I'm in my music favorites list, on occassion.

That's because Deezer would be the company developing their Roku interface and licensing agreement.

A 10 foot interface is a user interface designed to be used on televisions and controlled by a remote. This is different than those designed for phones and 'touch screen' operation. Like, your cable box, has a 10-foot interface. Netflix uses a 10-foot interface when using Roku, but has a touch interface when you use your phone.
