Hi
i have a Marantz sr5003 silver, turn on and display stuck on 7.1 surround do i reset? If so would have to start from scratch to setup. Not sure i can do coz very new to this.

Have you RTFM? Changing the sound mode sounds like all you need to do, or perhaps use a different source. What is your source and what are you trying to do particularly?

on the remote i pushed the 7.1 button cant get out of it

Does the remote work otherwise? Is this a new-to-you avr? A reset may be in order....so try a soft reset first so you don't lose settings and maybe take the batteries out of the remote.

i cant turn it off from the remote. New batteries..no second hand.what is soft reset

Soft reset is unplugging the avr from power (otherwise they're just in standby) for a bit. If you can't turn it off could be a bad remote, too.

How do front panel controls work?

managed to sort it..the remote functions ok still cant turn the av off. What i need now is a sub woofer what you recommend,got a 5.1 running at the moment.

Might want to see if you have a zone turned on, that would keep the avr going perhaps.

Subs I'd look at Hsu, SVS, Monolith, Rythmik, RSL, etc.
