Anyone help me find a tablet that has an IR blaster?

So my remote in the theater went dead.

I'm using the wall pad until my installer can get the new remote in

I want to make my own back up remote in case this happens again. It's a closed system RTI so I won't use it to control the lights just all the devices projector bluray streamers and reciever.

I have an old tablet and over WiFi I can control my Roku and my Yamaha CX-A5200 no problem. But I need an IR blaster to do them all and this tablet doesn't have one. They don't really install them anymore so does anyone know of an older generation I can still find to buy?

Or a really good universal remote that might do the trick?

I would pick up a second hand Harmony remote. Any apps for control that you may get on a phone will be limited to that phone being supported and the app being supported for the setup. The issue is often that they just don't maintain that support for long enough. Logitech should still be around for a while and is a reasonable option for the money.

Xiaomi phones pretty much all have IR emitters in them to control stuff and may be a option.

I did a search on gsmarena for any phone with an infrared feature and out of many phones, the vast majority were Xiaomi indeed. A few smaller brands also have models with IR, but all are mainly sold in Asian markets.

The Harmony 655 is still available on ebay, but if you buy a new one, it's gonna be expensive. However, it will have a warranty. Otherwise, you could buy a Harmony Hub, which can control all of your equipment by loading the app onto your tablet. You can use your computer to set it up- I prefer this method to using the phone or tablet, but it's not hard to use the tablet. I would recommend watching YouTube videos to see how it would be set up. Also, Harmony has info on its site, under 'Community'.

Thanks for the help! Yeah I think that's my only option do you know a goof place I could look for second hand. I could try Craigslist but I'd rather buy from some type of vendor that provides a warranty even if I have to pay a little more

How old is this remote? As long as it's not too old, it should be possible to buy a new remote and, assuming the old one isn't totally dead, upload the program to a computer with the RTi software so the replacement can be programmed.

I usually go to Amazon if I or my customers need the 665. I have a couple of Harmony remotes- I use one for my system and I have a Pro2400, again because I was a beta tester- I use that if I need to test equipment but because they pulled the plug, I'm not sure I'll sell any of the Harmony stuff that I have (maybe one of the hubs) because the whole situation pisses me off. The thing that sucks about the 2400 is that it could control devices using IR, BT or IP, had six emitter jacks, the antenna could be relocated on a cable and that means the range would never need to be a problem. The hub even has an ethernet port- connection is extremely reliable.

If I thought it would help, I would contact Logitech and ream them for this, but they would just hang up. What they needed was better direction- their training videos showed them using remotes in a whole-home system and I think that was a mistake.

It is worth noting that eBay is the place to go for a lot of this type of stuff. A remote that cost you $500 new may be had for $50-$100 in decent condition off of eBay. Pick up a spare remote. Put it in a ziplock with a silca bag and ensure it is fully programmed as a hot spare. That may be the cheapest way to go if the system is otherwise in proper working condition. From what I'm seeing there doesn't look to be a T12 remote from RTI, but you can always ask what the full/proper model number is.

This may not only be the least expensive option for you, but the one which integrates most seamlessly into your system.

I also have one installed in the wall and that's what's been getting me by for now. @highfigh The remote is not completely dead just the touch screen and buttons freeze every time I try to use it.

The installer is coming this Wednesday with the new one and should be able to move all the programming over I hope if not just program the new one.

This harmone remote will be just a temporary emergency backup for any future issues because it takes time to get on they're schedule if they're backed up so as you point out @BMXTRIX just a very good bargain on ebay should be the way to go
