Upgrade the Stereo Sound

Hi

I own a denon x4500, emotiva XPA 5 Gen3, 702 s2 and 2 rels as my stereo system. In addition for movies i have 603 s2 as back surround and other bws as surround. I have also 4 elac atmos speakers as front and back heights. I also order the central
bw htm71 s3 (i have one older bw central model).

I have 3 questions:

1 - How to improve my stereo sound and use fully the 702 s2 speakers (trying not to pass 6k €)
2 - How to improve my home cinema. A better receiver would make a difference ?
3 - Im i loosing sound quality using elac atmos as heights

Thanks

Which REL subs? I would probably start there. Unless you have the predator line which seem ok.

well if you want to improve your 2 channel sound you need to tell us about the room in which your system resides, just as important as speakers. Great speakers improperly positioned in any room can sound sub-par, improperly positioned in a poor environment it gets even worse !

why not upgrade to a newer model for better sound

Are you satisfied with the sound of the 702s? Or are you just looking to improve the setup without changing gear?

Hi like very much the 702 s2. I think i'm not using all of their potencial.

Since you are happy with the speakers, then it is all about setup - positioning, seating relative to the speakers, room treatments, etc...

The thing is you only know when you try better. When i change from 603 to 702 was a big difference. Maybe i can improve my 702 with better stereo gear ?

How do you know that they have more "potential" than with what you've got? Your gear seems fine and with sufficient amplification to let those speakers do what they can. Just how loud do you listen? Generally though for sound quality improvement you would look at speakers and/or your room, not the electronics, especially when they're sufficient.

Ps personally those tiny Rel subs would be insufficient in my use....

That's what I was getting at, your gear does sound fine already. Speakers make the biggest difference and chasing big gains on the electronics side gets expensive and still won't yield as big of a return in my experience.

Definitely my experience as well. I'd start with speakers/subs in this case but it's not my system :)

While I agree with @lovinthehd that after a reasonable level of quality electronics are in place, Subs and Speakers are the as a second step, however first the room and speaker positioning need analysis and review. We need locations, models, layout dimensions, materials, etc. for everything to give a reasonable response on next steps. Photos will help as well.

Just my 2 cents...

I suspect because its a receiver in charge of the stereo sound, no ?

Not particularly in my experience. I had an old 2ch receiver back in the day (70s) and moved up to separates (i.e. separate tuner/pre-amp/amp boxes) and while I tripled my power, no other significant difference in SQ nor when I moved on from that setup to my current batch of avrs (and I still use some of that old 2ch gear). The changes were when I moved speakers to different rooms/houses, and the speakers themselves. There's a lot of generally baseless chatter on the net from 2ch gearheads on the subject IMO, though :) Some of those guys hear differences in cables, too.

As was pointed out, perhaps looking at your room/setup now in detail would be the best first step, to maximize what you've got. You've got good stuff....
