Flash drive not recognized by stereo receiver

Hi,

I have a Pionneer VSX-934 receiver and for two years I've been using a PNY 256GB Elite-X fit USB 3.1 flash drive containing mp3 music folders but suddenly when I tried to access my flash drive on my receiver I saw the light "USB" flashing and a few seconds later "no storage" appeared. I tried several times to unplug my flash drive and turn on and off my receiver but nothing worked... I hope somebody can help to solve this problem.

Thanks,

Serge

You sure the drive is fine, you put it back in a computer and it's reading fine? Sure the drive or its port on your avr are clean/undamaged?

Both my Oppos only accept FAT32 formatted USB otherwise they won't read them, so that could be the same issue here.

Hi thanks for your reply. That flash drive was formatted to FAT32 and it was working fine for a long time

Might try a soft reset of avr....or switching USB ports perhaps.

Seriously, I have no life.
Or another flash drive with a few segments transferred to it and see if that works.

I have the Denon AVR-X3700H, and it will also take updating only with a FAT32 formatted USB drive.

A soft reset is just unplugging it for a bit.

I have a external HD connected to my 3600 and FAT32 is all that works. Make sure it's not "EX"fat32

He says this drive was working before so it sounds like format isn't the problem. Maybe try another drive as well as the soft reset?

So what is the outcome? Agree since the same thing worked before, it's more likely just a change in the avr a reset might solve....

Hi, sorry for the delay to write back but I was very busy. I did a soft reset today and now it's working again. Thanks again for your help

Thanks to everybody for all your messages. I did a soft reset today and now my flash drive is working again. I just had a another question. I have a large mp3 collection "165 GB" and I used before an I-Pod Nano but I'd like to buy a new MP3 player and put all my music files on it and also be able to use it with my Pioneer receiver. I've found this one on Amazon :

Amazon.com: MP3 Player, MECHEN Lossless DSD High Resolution Portable Digital Audio Music Player with 64GB Memory Card, HiFi Lossless Audio Player,Support up to 256GB : Electronics

And I would buy this memory card to be able to put all my music files on it :

Amazon.com: MP3 Player, MECHEN Lossless DSD High Resolution Portable Digital Audio Music Player with 64GB Memory Card, HiFi Lossless Audio Player,Support up to 256GB : Electronics

Would it work with my receiver and what kind of cable will I need to plug it in?

Thanks again for your help

I just use large thumb drives or stream from my computer/phone/tablets (wirelessly via dlna). I don't have much use for a portable player (nor use headphones/iems). Looks like only analog output aside from usb on that player and your avr may not recognize the usb output of the player.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Well I'm going to try to do more research online about compatible mp3 players with that type of receiver. Have a great day

Have you tried just using your pc/phone/tablet streaming over your wifi to the avr? It's pretty convenient....
