SU owns B&W, Marantz and Classe. So they already have amps.
Yeah, but these will be specific to the D30. Classe will be for everything else these B&W amps will only be good for the D30. It will be even more "one of kind' if the person interested in them HAS to purchase $20k amps to use with these D30's. The allure will be so much greater than before. And the data, my goodness the numbers for these speakers will be off the charts. Haha!

Correct, 801D4 is now the "ultimate" speaker in their lineup.
I don't know. Historically, the 800Ds are the flagship, followed by the 801s, then 802s, then 803s, then 805s.

So some people will argue that their 800D3 is "higher-end" than the 801D4. :D

I paid $12K per PAIR for my brand new black piano 802D2. Also paid $14K per PAIR for my brand new Revel Salon2. Good old days. :D

Now they're (at the moment) $17,500 per speaker! what a deal!

The 801D4's are $17,500 each. 802D4 is $13k/each, 803D4 is $10k each and 804D4 is $7k each.
Oh, I was thinking PER PAIR. I paid $12K per PAIR ($6K EACH) of the 802D2.

Who's buying $38K/PAIR of 801D4? :D

Right! the B&W diehards are dropping that kind of money. With them being basically only sold at BB, you will never get any dealer discounts. B&W are pricing themselves way too high for the 800 series. Grand majority of people will pass on those prices. The 700 series is still pretty "affordable". I'd say most people wanting to try B&W will hit the 700 series first.
