You gotta point, in the Movie and Media industry. Yep some will do just that, do something with a shock and awe value.

So if they didn't have the video evidence, how would the police determine that Will Smith is guilty of slapping Chris Rock?

They'd immediately dust Chris's cheek until they found the Fesh Prints...

That's the only positive I got out of the Oscars. :D
I didn't watch it, but I did watch a few minutes of it. Next year's Oscars I will be watching for sure. Sure hope there isn't a drive-by.

Will Smith was wrong.

As was Chris Rock.

Was there a more wrong?

Yes, Will Smith. Period.

He's an adult, and has every opportunity and every responsibility that goes along with that. He didn't have to like it, but a comedian making a joke, and often a bad joke, is not only typical, but may be considered a huge part of the job. Insulting others is the norm. But, Smith had this huge chance to really make a statement about what his wife is going through and expressing to Rock in firm words at a more appropriate time, or even during his acceptance speech.

The joke was funny. It WAS funny. Inappropriate, but funny. Like any number of similar jokes throughout history.

But, at this point, the needle really moves against Will Smith. I think for good reason.

I have no belief that it was staged, but it could have been. Such is life. But, at no point do I want me making a bad joke end up with me being physically assaulted. I will return the favor. Even if I don't like what you have to say. I certainly wouldn't like someone the size of Will Smith stepping up on me. That would suck.

That's the thing with seasoned actors. Where does they're acting begin and the reality sets in? There both really good at what they do. So are the ones sitting in the audience. All I gotta say is: (are you not entertained)!

I don't think it was staged. I think Chris saw it coming and rolled with it so it didn't land very hard, but he looked genuinely shook up. Shook up but rolled with it and recovered quickly, but he did look shook. I think Chris is a good comedian but I dunno if he's a good enough actor to have pulled off his reaction.

I'm pretty much in agreement that Chris' joke was a bit tasteless, but Smith just showed everyone it's okay to use violence when someone says something you don't like. That's wrong, wrong, wrong. And the people all coddling poor Will is kind of disgusting, imo. Chris just got slapped in the face on national television ffs.

It would be funny to have a roast of Will Smith where he smacks all the comedians after each joke. :)

All in the grand plan to boost ratings. Something this idiotic sure looked staged, after all the awards show is all about ACTING. ,. And look what they got, crazy publicity. Their production worked.,

That tape is getting so much play it will turn into this generation's Zapruder film.
Over the long haul all of them will benefit from this. The Oscars, Will, Rock, the Media, behavior analysts, the list is endless.
The only negative seems to be a further decline in cultural standards.

Here's a fun "staged" conspiracy theory:

- Pfizer is a sponsor of the Academy Awards broadcast
- Pfizer has been pushing to get their alopecia drug out
- Jada Pinkett Smith has alopecia
- Chris Rock makes a joke about her appearance (brought on by said alopecia)
- Will Smith b*tch slaps Rock
- the internet goes crazy, thereby raising awareness of alopecia
- according to NIH, one of the (many) side effects of the Pfizer jab is alopecia
- Pfizer (and its stock holders) cashes in (again)

Yeah!!! Makes sense for sure. Didn't know that, interesting.

At first it appeared staged, but when Will started yelling at him after, he looked honestly upset.

It fully ruined the whole event because people are not talking about the films at all.

Fixed that for you ;).
Agree or disagree, Hollywood influences culture, especially in the age of celebrity, twitter, instagram, et al. Think the Kardashians have not been an influence?

Sorry, forgot the elephant in the room, no pun intended.
Do you think Trump would have been elected in 2016 if his face and personality were not already well known because of the Apprentice? Otherwise, he was just a rich real estate contractor from NYC and we would have had Jeb Bush running against Hillary.
