Questions about the Airmotiv SE8 8" Flex Subwoofer

Hi, just doing my 10yr reeducation on the latest in home theater...time for a new system.
I like the "small speaker/dual sub" school of thought, and want a receiver with 2 individual sub-outs so each will be independently adjustable with Audyssey, etc.

Q: With the 3 different ways to connect an SE8, is it possible to buy a cheaper receiver (shared sub-out signal), and use an RCA jack for 1 of the SW's, and use one of the other connection methods to connect with the 2nd SW...and have independent adjustability to dial in for my room? (1 on Audyssey; the other by tweaking the dials on back of the SW unit)?

Layman replies if possible, LOL! The rep from Emotiva was speaking above my paygrade, and did not understand why I would want 2 SW's, or want to have independent adjustability...huh?

I have no clue what you're trying to do... do you have 2 subs? You have 2 independant sub outs already. Why would you want to add a cheap receiver? For what purpose?

Three different ways to connect? Not sure what you mean, you basically have two (low level and high level inputs) on that sub, and that's fairly normal, altho some no longer have high level, aka speaker level, inputs.

Using an avr with two independently adjustable pre-outs (for level/delay) can be a good thing, but just because an avr shows ".2" doesn't mean they're individually adjustable (Audyssey XT32 equipped avrs have that ability generally); many are just using an internal splitter and output the same signal on both pre-outs. You can always just use your own splitter as well if you only have one pre-out. What avr do you have or are shopping for? If you're placing your subs equidistant from your listening position the individual level/delay adjustment isn't going to have an advantage.

While small subs may fit better due size, you realize you give up performance with such a small sub (hard to even call an 8" unit a "sub").

Subs go where they work best in your particular room, which may not be in corners at all. As to size of sub, smaller drivers have limitations, likely just going to be more limited on extension (i.e. how low it can go) but depending on your extension goals (and spl to an extent), a small sub may work, particularly if just for music without deep bass....for movies it may not work so well or for music with deep bass. YMMV.

Thanks...and after all that something I can work with. I'll just save for a higher end receiver...moving on! By the way I think I figured out TheCheapAudioman's" 3rd way...it involves a DAC of some sort, and seems kind of purpose defeating in my case.
