If I didn't have one nearfield I might entertain it. They are pretty cool for movies. Or even go one further with a BOSS system! (
@William Lemmerhirt!)
I still need to do a bit of dialling in but there is significant extra wobble/ sensitivity with the tubes added. Watched Fury and whilst I was on a WWII theme Saving Private Ryan (With BEQ) The beach landing was incredible, The sofa was certainly a lot more energetic lol

Yes indeed!!! I am an advocate of the BOSS.
I have never really found BK’s or other shakers to be very good. They always seemed to be…just a little off. I absolutely believe this could have been due to not being set up correctly.
Disclaimer: my experiences with buttkickers, and other transducers were in other peoples rooms.
As for the BOSS. I actually stumbled on that thread at almost the exact same time I was trying to engineer a more natural TR device. Short version is that I mounted a baffle in my couch with a 12” JBL subwoofer driver, and replaced the feet with Hudson ISO’s. I also placed them on the baffle for a total of 8, and put a bicycle innertube around the driver. Basically my couch is a hover boss. My wife didn’t want to se a riser, so I said…OK!!! IME it’s much better than other TR devices. I think part of that is because it uses an actual speaker to creat the movement, so it for lack of a better description, it “feels” like a speaker. In the same way you feel a subwoofer. My friend built a back BOSS with two 15’s mounted to the back of his loveseat. He didn’t build a riser or use ISO’s so there’s less “wobble” down deep, but it has a “sharpness” to the shake if that makes sense. It’s also very good. Since this is basically IB, there’s no SPL. As I mentioned. My subs are good to about 15ish. The reason I did the BOSS was because in order to get the TR I wanted, I had to push my little subs more than I wanted to since my room is large and on concrete. So I have knee on my BOSS at about 5hz and it tapers down to about 17hz. This makes a pretty good blend from the room(far field subs)to the couch. I’d like tune it further, but the laptop that rew and minidsp is on… took a dump. It’s good for now.
