Toyota still believe hydrogen is the future, but they seem to be the only one. Honda had it for a while too, but seem to have mostly dropped it. That played out poorly here in our area when the one and only plant that handled distribution had an explosion and all those hydrogen cars were useless for a few months. Toyota had to provide some of those owners with loaner cars for 2-3 months, such as one of my friends. No doubt when her lease was up, she bought a hybrid.
Mazda and BMW and a few others are still working on the tech. Yamaha Motor too.
The question is which technology is better in the long run? Costs of EV infrastructure and rare earth metal costs (china dependency) vs. Hydrogen (or something else that is yet to be explored)....
Let them fight!

You have Porsche trying to bring out eFuel too, basically a clean extension to existing engines. Not sure why that isn't taking off.

I think about those that may travel 100+ miles a day to and from work. 25mpg at $4.00 a gallon is $20.00 a day X's 5 days is $100.00/week, for example. Perhaps they are not making a whole lot in hourly wages with a family. We can complete our pipeline as far as I am concerned and be independent from energy, as a whole. Since OPEC is not willing to budge, why depend on others for oil source. Saudi's are out to get us too, with no humanitarian help to boot, in the world.

Paid $3.69 for 87 today. Diesel is $4.49. Can't wait to fill my truck. Guess I'll get to do the $100 limit thing and pump twice. Lucky me.

The Kinks in 1979:
I've been waiting for years to buy a brand new Cadillac
But now that I've got one I want to send it right back
I can't afford the gas for my luxury limousine
But even if I had the dough, no one's got no gasoline

I went to my local dealer to see if he could set me straight
He said there's a little gas going but you have to wait
But he offered some red hot speed and some really high grade hash
But a gallon of gas can't be purchased anywhere for any amount of cash

I can score you some coke and some grade one grass
But I can't get a gallon of gas
I've got some downers, some speed, all the drugs that you need
But I can't get a gallon of gas
There's no more left to buy and sell
There's no more oil left in the well
A gallon of gas can't be purchased anywhere
For any amount of cash
I love your body-work, but you're really no use
How can I drive you when I got no juice?
Because it's stuck in neutral and my engine's got no speed
And the highways are deserted
And the air smells unnaturally clean
It's got power-assisted overdrive and carpets on the floor
But it's parked out front just like a dead dinosaur
And I'll be paying off the bank for 45 years or more
It should go 100 miles an hour
But it's never moved away from my door)

Who needs a car and a seven-forty-seven
When you can't buy a gallon of gas
Who needs a highway, an airport or a jet
When you can't get a gallon of gas
There's no more left to buy and sell
There's no more oil left in the well
A gallon of gas can't be purchased anywhere
For any amount of cash
You can't buy a gallon of gas

I lied about diesel. It was $4.79 when I filled up. First leg stopped at $100. Second stopped just short of $40. My tank wasn't empty when I started filling up.

Good thing I only fill up once a month or so.

Seriously, I have no life.
Fla is full of traffic right now . And right now around Daytona we have Bike Week with 600,000 people projected. Bikes and trucks with bike trailers everywhere. Hotels and campgrounds full from New Smyrna to St Augustine. Plus the normal tourist traffic.

Gas, heck cost me $25.00 to fill up my mower, blower, edger,
A friend moved to FLA and tells me how great it is but I have heard too many horror stories about traffic to want to go.

Traffic, if it wasn't for the tourist and special events , it would be awesome. Now of course anything NORTH of Ocala East to west with the exception of Jacksonville and west of Tallahassee there is hardly any real traffic. The same can be said for the core central areas, Clermont south down the 27 corridor to Clewiston. The build ups occur along both coast lines and their cities and, Orland, Lakeland and the Keys..

New Yorkers don't care about traffic since it's so bad up here so it won't slow the people moving from here, high taxes and energy costs aside. Ex NYer's are probably the cause of most of the chaos in Florida now since they drive so badly. My apologies.

I don't know if it was locals or tourists or both, but the times I've driven in FL people seemed to have the general attitude of "I need to move over, doesn't matter if anyone is there because I don't plan to look."

That got old real quick.

Yep that will be the folks from PA, NY, and NJ as they brought their driving tactics with them . :)

Old people who should have stopped driving are a huge problem, too- personally, I think everyone should be required to take remedial driving lessons starting at 40 unless they can pass a short road test.

Traffic in Florida is heavy on the Interstates no matter which one you use other than at 3AM.

I can';t believe states would not want to test drivers over, say 70, heck I'm 69 and I have NO problem taking a drivers test with a officer next to me, like we did when we first got our license. Some of these older people, God bless em, as we all will be there one day and the younger crowd will be saying the same thing, but its true. Sooner or later a person should not drive based on their mental state, reflexes, and comprehension of whats taking place around them. Its sad, but its reality.

I've found that actual age doesn't really translate to being old. I see folks my parents age (younger than you) and think "what the hell happened to them?"
