It would really be beneficial to your continued participation in this thread to move beyond hear-say. If you catch my drift.
I don’t get your drift…. If you knew what hearsay meant you would understand my confusion.

How can his God given immune system fail him? ;) :D
I am sorry for your loss. People die unexpectedly, I can’t do anything about that. However, statistics show that your chances of death to COVID, if you are under 60 and in good health, are minimal. We can die of a lot of things we do in life, but we do them because we accept the risk. It is a personal choice that we and only each of us can make for ourselves. It is NOT something society should dictate for us. You need to understand that there are known and unknown risks withe the vaccine. Take it at your own peril. I chose not to at 59 and while Delta made me sick, I recovered within 30 days. If I had not, it would be on me, but it is a calculated risk that I took…it had nothing to do with society at large. Now my immunity is better than had I been vaccinated..that is what the studies show. I do not condemn or belittle anyone who chooses to get vaccinated, I expect the same in return.

I think you have your risk calculation backwards. You're taking a larger risk when you depend on your immune system to protect you than if you get vaccinated. Here in Nova Scotia, an unvaccinated person is 4.5 times more likely to be hospitalized due to COVID and seven times more likely to die. The short term risks of vaccination are well below those of the infection itself.

As for possible long term side effects, what do think could possibly happen?

Debunking mRNA Vaccine Misconceptions—An Overview for Medical Professionals (nih.gov)
You cannot compare “all unvaccinated” people. You need to break it down further. If 85% of the deaths are in people over the age of 65 or have 4 comorbilities, then if you are unvaccinated and not one of the aforementioned groups your chance of death is very low. As for long term risks…. And short term risks, Google senator Johnson, DOD COVID, and you will understand my concerns.

You can slice it and dice it however you like. But, from a purely statistical standpoint, getting vaccinated is absolutely the smart thing to do.

To humour you, I Googled Senator Johnson. The first result was his own website. The second was this:

Fact check: Sen. Ron Johnson (again) misleads on vaccines and reported deaths - CNNPolitics

You seem determined to ignore factual information on the value of vaccination against COVID. You have dug your heels in, leaving us at loggerheads. I see little point in continuing this back and forth.

Death rates are consistently lower in every age group for those who are vaccinated.

In terms of risks, I prefer facts:

"There is no increased risk for mortality among COVID-19 vaccine recipients."

Seriously, I have no life.
People die every day because their immune system failed them, but humanity at large has survived because of our immune system.
And millions have died because the mutations of a virus or other pathogen outpaced the ability of their natural immune system to cope with them.

Are you saying that your immune system is superior just because you survived? Maybe this time, maybe not the next.

Actually, you are close. I am saying that once one beats the virus, their immunity is better than someone that was vaccinated. Of course that means you have to risk getting the virus…a risk that for most of us is pretty small. Getting a vaccine every 6 months is not a practical response, especially when the current vaccines are not very effective against Omicron. Not to mention we have no evidence that these vaccines are safe long term or with repeated use. As I said, get the shot or don’t. It is a personal choice that does not endanger anyone else.

I do not dispute your facts, they are simply not a compelling reason to take a vaccine if I am not in a high risk group. Every day I make calculated risk decisions, some of those decisions are life and death…like the decision to go to town to eat…risks are low I will get into an accident but they are zero if I remain in my home.

Lazasar has repeatedly ignored the obvious fact that infectious viruses are contagious.

An unvaccinated person, who becomes infected, spreads the disease to others. Failure to wear seatbelts, for example, increases your own risk of injury in an auto accident, but does not increase the risk that others suffer the same outcome. Failure to get vaccinated increases society's risk as a whole.

Lazasar can't be so dumb. He must be hard at work earning points for his Tucker Carlson Merit Badge.

Don't waste your time or effort trying to convince him that he might be wrong. That only offers him a platform for his ignorant and destructive ideas. Furthermore… Never wrestle with a turd. It doesn't matter if you win or loose, you only get covered with sh!t.

I support vaccines, I do not support mandatory vaccines. If you take the vaccine understand you do it to protect yourself, it does so well for about 6 months, but it does not protect you from spreading the virus to others. If you are not worried about side effect (short and long term) I am good with that, it is your body after all. You should listen to the entire hearing. These are reputable people and the concerns they have are supported by the data. CNN has been wrong about virtually everything so you have to understand they have an agenda. The link you provided does not refute The data that was presented and that data should concern us all. I posted it previously so will not do so again.

I have never said infectious viruses are not contagious. That is clear from my posts. A vaccinated person can spread the virus (virtually the same as an unvaccinated person) and natural immunity from getting the virus provides better protection from the virus than does the getting vaccinated. I am aware of the facts, but if you think you are being virtuous by getting the vaccine, you are ill informed.
The fact that you stoop to insults instead of logic says volumes about you. You do you and I will respect your right to do so. However, the answer to speech you don’t agree with is more speech and facts to refute my points. You have not done that.

Yep. Another saying like that I like is "Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience."

Someone that has their mind made up so they can walk around agreeing with the rest of their flock, especially when it's politically motivated, isn't interested in the truth, they're interested in what gets them accepted by their group.

I'm finding that my mindset of not giving a sh!t what my group thinks about my decisions or opinions isn't the norm. Most people want to be accepted more than anything, and they're willing to either ignore facts, or pretend they're false.

I'm not so sure this is correct if the time intervals and other variables between the two groups are taken into account.

>>>Among COVID-19–like illness hospitalizations among adults aged ≥18 years whose previous infection or vaccination occurred 90–179 days earlier, the adjusted odds of laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 among unvaccinated adults with previous SARS-CoV-2 infection were 5.49-fold higher than the odds among fully vaccinated recipients of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine who had no previous documented infection (95% confidence interval = 2.75–10.99).<<<

Thanks for sharing this information. There are other studies that have greater numbers (not limited to 9 states). I will see if I can find them and share. I tend not accept info from the CDC simply because they have misled the public to many times to count.
