My dual opposed isn't push/pull....wonder how different that might be?

Glad to see they're doing something good with the brand but the prices of these....meh.
I tell you what they may be too pricey but those speakers are the real deal man.

Except for the RF7 iii those were my favorite speakers out of everything I listened too

So what model were the speakers?

Yeah I'd check first!
I had $300 as a hard limit for a new one in my head, and even that's a little too much for me to spend on something I don't need, lol. I got to thinking about some of the more expensive diy options out there tho, and if they make it in house they can charge whatever they want. I could see it getting pretty pricey.

I have the understanding that isobaric and push-pull are two completely different things. You can have push-pull drivers mounted on the same face of the cabinet, even. Isobaric builds require a very tight sealed chamber between the drivers, and the drivers can be in the same orientation or clamshell… but the key is that the space between them is sealed. Dual-opposed is just two drivers firing outwards, but rather than being on a single front baffle, they are on opposite sides.

For that matter @shadyJ, do you think the 12" would work with my VTF-3 MK5s?
I don't think it would be worth trying to mix the M&K sub with the VTF-3s. You didn't miss out on the deal of a lifetime, so don't sweat it!

This is correct. Push-pull has nothing to do with where the drivers are mounted with respect to each other. It is merely reverse mounting one of the drivers while inverting its phase from the amplifier. This is done to use the air volume inside the sealed cabinet to modulate the driver's effects on each other. There is some discussion of the push-pull mechanics in the discussion thread for the Perlisten D215s.

The advantage of having an isobaric design in a push-pull configuration, is that it provides a better cone excursion linearity and contributes to a lower distortion.

How much better would these be to the Monoprice Monolith subs? I would think THX Certified is the same for all.

There's also THX Dominus certification which the 15" does meet.

That said I do think the Monolith THX subs will offer comparable perfomance for a lot less.

A real push-pull arrangement is where the drivers are disposed 180° apart. This means, either the two cones or the magnets are facing each other:

These are the jbl’s I use these are mounted face to face 8 inch bass drivers the vent out the top . The bottom part is in a sealed compartment with the crossover at the bottom plate. They have pleasing bass response for the design but sound way better with subs . I know we’re talking subs here but this design is similar right . There’s also a 3 position switch on the very bottom to compensate for room placement for the bass response . I’ve never understood how this design works .

They definitely need subs as complements. Also, it looks like the passive crossover has good air core inductors, which is not always the case even with expensive brand speakers.

It's a very unusual design for commercial dual opposed subs I think....
Using two drivers means close to doubling of the cost of building a one driver sub. That's probably the main reason for its scarcity.

Well scarcity of the push pull design, quite a few dual opposed subs out there....
