I posted this over on another forum but thought it would be nice to share this with those of you here also...

After receiving the 15" v1 last week with a defective amp I can confirm that Monolith is sending out replacement amps instead of making us send back our subs. When I contacted Monolith via online chat their first solution was to replace the whole sub. I had to tell the agent that I was aware that they were replacing just the amps to get him to offer that solution. He said they would have a replacement out by the end of today...we will see. Here is the email I just received confirming the replacement...

We will be shipping a part replacement out first. Please use the attached return label and apply to the package for the item(s) being returned to us. Then go to FedEx.com website to get the nearest FedEx drop off locations in your area. Please make sure that the item is returned within 30 days, otherwise you will be held liable for the second item. Truly sorry for any inconvenience it may cause you. Should you have any question, please email at returns@monoprice.com
Thank you so much for doing business with us.

Regards,

Monoprice, Inc.

SVS will run you through a little bit of troubleshooting first, but they do the same thing. I had amp issues with one of their subs and they just sent me a new amp with a return label and packaging to return the defective one. I would say that's fairly sop for most cases. It's a lot cheaper to ship the just amp instead of the whole sub.

It has not been SOP for Monolith up until recently. That has been the biggest complaint/issue with Monolith owner's. They have always had to box up their subs and return them. The big players have had the option of amp plate replacement like you mention. This is huge news for Monolith fans, they just stepped up their game to compete with the big boys!

Ah, okay. That I didn't know, but it really only makes sense and I think will save Monoprice quite a bit in shipping costs.

Not to mention the backs that it will save when these subs like mine are 130 lbs.
