i tried pro-logic II 7.1 from a 5.1 source
it sounded like poop, but it also sounded quite a bit fuller

i'm suspecting it's due to the shitty sony HT in a box speakers i used for SBs
i'm getting the B&Ws dm604 for front stage
and maybe if i use the JBL HT1F bookshelf, as, SL, SR, CB, it would sound better
i heard a back center doesn't sound good, but i can put it really, like, reeeeeeeealy back there, so it doesn't sound so localized
do you guys think that would work
(asking cause that would require me re arrenging my living room

ProLogic II only upmixes to 5.1. You mean ProLogic II x or z ?

what, humn, what are pro logic II x and Y, all i did was turn on logic pro II to movie or music, and they were active, tho, it might be something like multi stereo, but only for the surrounds

What receiver/processor do you have? Pro Logic II only provided for upmixing up to 5.1, Pro Logic II x provided for up to 7.1 (z indicated it could do rear surrounds and/or front heights). I wouldn't worry about using a single rear surround if that works better for you....

also, how is one supposed to play EX formats for 6.1, i got a few 6.1 movies, but iirc, nor my tv nor my blu ray player support that via optical or coaxial

Yeah that unit is probably just before they came out with the x/z version of ProLogicII. I think you do have the option of 6.1 and 7.1 if it's native content, not for upmixing from 5.1. I'd have to read your manual but that's my guess.

I have no 7.1 input tho, only s/dif and analog 5.1 for surround

It seems i can have 6.1 as in digital EX and dts ES, but i got no idea on how to get that to work

Looking at a diagram of the back of the unit, it does have 7.1 analog multich inputs, so you'd need a player with 6.1/7.1 analog outputs to use that....

Now that you mention it, you're right
