Hello,
I am new to the group; my first post...
I am upgrading my AV receiver and I have been overwhelmed.
I have done months of research and I have narrowed down to Yamaha A6A, Integra DRX 5.4 & Marantz 7015.
I do not game but I stream movies, music, etc. I listen to CD's I have a 4K UHD Bluray and Sony 4K UHD TV.

Someone suggested the Integra would be a good fit.

I just had to trash a Yamaha RX-A3080, which I loved. Looking at the Integra, it seems like a good compliment but I do not know much about the company and I am partial to the new Yamaha release.
I am looking for a receiver to be somewhat futuristic if I decide to upgrade my TV to 8K in a year. the Yamaha will but will the Integra DRX 5.4, i wonder? On their site it looks as if this model will handle 8K. I tried to call Integra l but there is no answer to ask some questions.
What about the Maratnz? Over kill since I do not game?

I am not concerned about speakers or speaker calibration at this juncture. I will be upgrading speakers and I have a level meter to calabrate.

What happened to your RXA3080? Yamaha would have been first recommendation. I still use a 3060.

Do not be concerned with 8K. It's just the latest thing to tease people with to make it seem like their product is superior - a couple manufacturers tried using IMAX certification for a short while too....

Unless you're scorned by Yamaha, their stuff otherwise just works. I'm not sure we've really had anyone around here with product failures. Marantz also seems to stand the test of time well too. I do not have experience with Integra but have heard good things.

A6A is getting very good reviews. The problem will be actually getting a hold of one. Supply shortages abound.

Ya, 8K is something I wouldn't feel concerned to go after for a while... HDMI 2.1 overall, though, is potentially an important upgrade if you need 4K 120Hz for gaming for example.
Sadly, 2.1 is a mess, and the new Yammies don't even support fully operational 2.1 out of the box, rather pending a firmware update sometime "this fall."

Also, Gene says he found some troubling behavior while benching the A6A and is in conversation with Yamaha about what was happening.

This is, frankly, a bad time to be buying electronics. If you have to, you have to...

Depending on your finances, going after something to just get you by until the technology and availability problems are solved could be wise. A placeholder Denon 3700, for example, even refurbished, may be a compromise solution. Though not without it's own hdmi 2.1 baggage, if you aren't a gamer, it shouldn't be a problem.

If the old Yamaha is done for, a temp solution might be a good option given current supply and that the A6A is already a pretty expensive AVR and likely a long term investment. Maybe look on AccessoriesForLess for a refurb unit?

I have a couple of the new Yamaha models and have been happy with them up to this point. Not that I've gone crazy with them by any means. They just have been working fine so far.

Iam wondering myself I would think it would still be covered under some warranty there not that old I don’t think .
