When circuit city went out here at our local one they announced a going out of business sale like a week to early I was the first one in the door the next day . I was buying tv mounts that sold for 400 bucks for 60 bucks and cables of all kinds for pennies on the dollar mostly the higher end monster rca’s that sold for 80 bucks for 20 a pair . I went back the next day and they had a sign up that said a 10% off sale store wide apparently the store manager made a mistake and and started selling the store out by mistake lol anyhow I’ve still got cables of all kinds in boxes that have never been opened. The tv mount I bought was the best Omni mount they had it sold for 400 and I bought it for like 80 bucks it’s still the best mount I’ve ever seen .
Yeah, people were pissed when everything went back up to MSRP when we started the "going out of business" process. Comments like "this was cheaper before?" Me: "yep, probably should have bought it then". Didn't really have to care after we found out we had 6 months or less for our store...
Turns out our store was the top/near the top store in the company so we got all the other stores crap when they stopped selling and closed their doors. We got all sorts of random products we didn't even have SKUs for. It was hilarious how much nonsense there was. We pretty much got our pick of whatever. The liquidator was on site every day so we could just make him offers on random stuff we found. Almost bought a spool of CAT5e, but didn't need however much it was at the time.
Only thing nobody bought was the carpet. Everything else went. I still have an ancient 15" 4:3 LCD my old boss gave me. Still works with my server too.
The liquidation process was nuts.
