Already mentioned the brands I know about more on your side of the world....maybe Paradigm sells subs there? They have some good ones, too like these

Just hard to know what's available to you....I'm somewhat surprised SVS is there!

Well it is a solid performer and if you have warranty support, that's a good solid base to shop against....but I'd look around to see what else might be had for a satisfactory price.

I looked into Paradigm Defiance subwoofers for this gentleman, before I knew where he lived I checked I the Czech Republic. Unfortunately they don't have a dealer in Cyprus.

Yikes. The conversion rate for 1 Defiance X12 was equivalent to almost 2900$ Canadian before taxes. Ouch. I was able to get mine for 1500$ Canadian each (pre tax). They're probably out of his budget.

Hey the reinforcement is good! I missed someone else's Paradigm suggestion thinking about what brands might get distribution....

Definitely....I think overall audio knowledge in this era of fora/audio groups in social media can be great....but can also suck with the silliness some vendors promote. I think you're on the right track, tho ;)

LOL thought for a sec it was the OP...William is like preaching to the choir :)

Lol. Indeed I am. I totally agree, there’s so much crap out there. It’s like sorting through politics. Lmao.

“The PB-1000 Pro earns a 'Large Room' Bassaholic rating which indicates that it should be adequate for a room of 3,000 cubic feet to 5,000 cubic feet, and the SB-1000 Pro earns a 'Medium Room' rating, indicating it should be adequate for a room of 1,500 cubic feet to 3,000 cubic feet”

this is a quote from svs pb 1000 pro review. So why cant haddle the room if it earned that rating?

If you have the budget for it, I'd say just go for the SVS PB Pro 2000. I don't have one myself, but I've heard nothing but good things about them. Plus, with a local dealer you've got no problems with warranty issues.

The Arendal build quality is crazy good for the price. I would go for the Arendal.

A couple of folks a have suggested alternatives, but I didn't see if you look into availability.
How about bkelec or XTZ?
I've seen quite a few good things about XTZ on your side of the pond. Why don't you see if they're available to you? Then we'll dig in on which model.

I am in the process of checking for BK and XTZ. I have emailed BK but UK is considered outside of EU now so I expect some extra customs? Not sure. XTZ will look up for it asap

Without seeing the actual numbers, it is basically true that a when looking at comparable subs, the ported version will have consistently more output below about 35hz and by the time we get to 20hz, it can have as much as four times the output. I would venture that that is the reason for the ratings. Imo sealed only makes sense if the room is very small, or space is a premium.
