I couldn’t find much information on the pioneer, I know onkyo and pioneer have had a rough errr odd 12 months.

And I’ve seen some decent reviews on the 3080 but kinda like the full digital amp in the pioneer being cooler. As I’m using 4 ohm Martin Logan 40i and other ML speakers

What also has me looking to replace my Marantz is that both pioneer and especially the 3080 - is the better dialogue lift and dsp on them vs non on the 7013.

Go with the Yamaha. I have the SC-LX701. It’s a solid AVR but it’s lacks some features that other AVRs have In the same price range.

I agree with this, tried and true Yamaha. They make an excellent AVR.

I’ve seen some bench tests where the 3080 only delivers about 50 watts to 7 channels which seems low. But that said it’s almost 40 pounds and I assume can deal with 4 ohm loads. The AI function also really interested me

I also have a third option that I put as a long shot. The Lexicon RV6 — I like the specs but sooo little on it and I know it’s little brother the AVR390 from Arcam can’t do 4 ohm well.

You could also check out Anthem. They just dropped some new AVR’s.

Don't worry about those tests. The RX-A3080 is quite a powerful AVR. The low output for 7 channel driven test was likely due to the way it was tested and the aggressiveness of Yamaha's protection schemes.

If you want to see other bench test that showed better 7 channel driven results here's one for you:

Thank you for a great link.

It seems that the 3080 does have some balls.

I've always been impressed with how Yamaha could boost dialogue. Not sure if it spreads across the front stage or if it focuses on a particular frequency range.

Measurements certainly don't bear out any evidence of some tweaking of the frequency range particularly in its basic pure/direct mode (where most avrs are pretty much identical), altho it may have a sound mode/dsp setting that manipulates it somewhat, but I wouldn't say something like that is limited to Yamaha particularly either. Maybe @AcuDefTechGuy can advise anything particular the Yamaha has for this feature-wise in the 3080.....
