Xlr for speakers

I'm looking to convert 2 xlr wall outlets to speaker outlets for passive speakers using xlr out of my amp

Why not just run proper speaker cables? Doubt the xlr wiring is of sufficient gauge at a guess....and you don't send xlr out from an amp, it's an input connector.

Which is exactly what, tho? (i.e. what amp, how could you have used xlr output from the amp, what is the wiring between amp and wall plate, etc)

Well I use 1/4 adapter for the amp and the xlr to the xlr outlets

That's not enough detail. Amps don't output to speakers via xlr. Pre-amps might (for powered speakers). So, exactly what gear do you have? More info about the wires/connectors too.

What device is it (brand and model)? I've not seen an amp with 1/4" speaker outputs (the other terminals appear to be speak-on) those are amp outputs or line outputs?....but generally the wire used for xlr connection is of a much lower gauge than used for speakers.....nor do consumer speakers come with 1/4" inputs....

Ah, a mixer/amp combo with pro speakers......this forum is oriented towards consumer products. Looks like the 1/4" jacks are line outputs but the manual isn't very clear on that. They do confirm the others as speakon and show a passive speaker connection for that. I have a pro amp that also has 1/4" jacks near the speaker output terminals but they're headphone outs for monitoring.....

Best solution would be to buy some speakon connectors, and some speaker cable, and connect that way.
