Sound stops immediately after a short sound from speakers.

I have a problem with my home theater setup, it work for 2 hours (this is what i got in common when getting this issue ) and after sometime (may be 2 and half or 3 hours ) the sound stops completely just after a short like sound.

last time when i got this yesterday i checked all my devices but all devices were ON and in running condition ( not in standby)
Devices im using,
Marantz AV 7705
Marantz MM 7055
Emotiva basx 800
SVS sb 16 ultra subwoofer
And 7.1.4 speaker setup.
Nvidia shield TV pro.

The movie was still playing without sound.
When i stop the playback (after around 5min)and start the movie again the speakers started playing.

The link has the video i took when the sound goes off. And all the devices were on.

I know this is a weird issue but wanted to know expert opinion to figure out the actual problem since it can only be reproduced after 2 hours of playback im a little confused.

UPDATE:
It happened 3 days before as well, but at that time while producing this short sound my marantz amp went to protection mode (red light blinking) and if I remember correctly the processor also went standby or restarted not sure about the processor case which one happened but one of the above happened.

Any help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

So the receiver is still on, it doesn't kick off but there is just no sound from the speakers? Am I getting this right so far? You can see the movie on your TV, receiver on but no sound? That would be a very, very strange one.

Is it possible the amp is overheating, or the pre is?

Hmm extremely strange. Amp overheat should shut down the amp or receiver.

My first question, is have you updated the firmware? I ask this, as I have a 7705, which has been in use for about 18 months now. When I first put it in service, I had an assortment of bugs. One was making a loud pop through all speakers and then going on full and just sending a slight hiss out to all speakers. In the first weeks and months there were a flurry of software updates, which to my surprise solved this assortment of bugs. I was getting ready to send it back.

So, if the software has not been updated, then do it right away. If that does not do the job, then do a hard reset, and reset it up after. Try this up to three times if you have to. These units were released before being properly debugged in my view. I think Sound United really need to up their game. If it takes a price increase to units to produce reliable fit for service units, then so be it.

Also see if you have sound from the headphone jack, when you lose sound.

These units run extremely cool, so overheating is very unlikely.

Thanks for ur explanation, but I used to do regular updates and its up to date now.

Also this issue happens after working for more than 2 hours

Well then do a reset. Do up to three. If that does not work, then I suspect the disconnect timer circuit has developed a fault. I suspect it is unstable and activating when it should not. Those units have a timer to disconnect the outputs for a period of time after turn on, to stop thumps. My guess is that your circuit is now unstable. This is not something you can fix and the unit will require sending in for service.

Are you by chance bi amping or bi wiring? Also, check all of your speaker cabling and terminations. Look for frayed strands touching where they shouldn't or damage to the insulation that could be causing a short.

Ooh
But my doubt is then why the speakers suddenly produce a short like sound and then this happens.

Will update in the question itself.

No bi amp or bi wire. Cabling is difficult to check :( because all are inside ceiling, but i can check the terminals.
Is there any sort of technic to check the wire short?
One more thing, if there is a wire short it should come regularly rit, in my case it only comes after 2 hours .

It would have been really helpful if you had told us the whole story from the beginning. So now it seems your power amp is going into protection. So now far more likely than not you have trouble with your speaker wiring.

So the wiring to all speakers needs checking from top to bottom, before you do serious damage and destroy some very nice and expensive equipment.

If the wiring is in the ceiling wildlife could have got to it, or a nail gone through a cable. That does happen and I have seen both. Rodents just love to chew up unprotected wiring. If there is no problem at the amp end, then the termination at the speakers needs inspecting. If you don't see problem there, then you will have to pull all the speaker wiring, and install conduit and run new cables through the conduit. This likely will require opening up your ceilings.

As I keep saying you never run any concealed AV cable that is not in conduit, EVER. That is a golden rule.

Sorry for making the confusions, but again to confirm ur understanding, the issue I first mentioned was the latest occurrence and there none of the devices went to protection mode, but the marantz amp went to protection mode when it happened 3 days back. hope u r clear.

The ceiling I did 2 months back so no chance of rodents attack, but since u said I suspect whether the crews went through the wire and the metal frame while fixing the board. Could it be a case ?
But then again why the situation arises after some hours of use ? Just asking to confirm the issue .

...It works for 2 hours and after maybe 2.5 or 3 hours the sound stops completely...
1. Do you have another AVR that you can switch out to see if the Pre-pro is at fault?
2. Does this happen with all amps or just the Marantz amp?

Yes, it could very well be the case. That's why I asked about your speaker cables. It's a pain in the ass but you really should inspect them and run conduit to make your life easier next time.

I had the same thing happen to me and it was damage to one of my speaker cables. It runs under and behind our couch to a surround speaker and got pinched under a couch foot when we moved it to vacuum or something. It would play at low volumes but would go into protection when I turned it up.

His symptoms are almost exactly what mine were with the pinched speaker cable. It would play for a while then shut off. It did it also when I turned the volume up.

Could be something simple like that.

So the VOLUME actually matters?

Just throwing my two cents in here in support of the speaker cable issue.

I wiped my previous AVR out because I didn’t pay attention and disregarded a shut off like this and it did exactly same thing. Would run for a while and then shut off. It was a speaker cable short on the speaker end.

I kept trying to force it back on and run it for a while until eventually it just gave up and it was cooked.
