So, set up my Pio Elite, most working good, but both my blu ray players pause to (what i assume is collecting data or rereshing)
But they work as advertised with standard movies, an i right in assuming is an inferior hdmi cable?

I ordered some really good 8k cables, not cuz I need 8k, but why not for future equipment....
Right track?

I can't tell what the issue is from the description. What do the bluray players do or don't do in terms of "pause to" when they're not playing movies as advertised? Cables are by bandwidth/speed, so hopefully you got the suitable high speed hdmi cable. If the cable is generally working the problem isn't likely the cable.

What I'm saying is BOTH players pause every few seconds while playing Blu-ray discs, but they both function properly with standard disc movies in them

In a bluray player a standard disc is a bluray, so can you explain that a bit more? Probably more a player issue than cable still, which one is it?

What are the model numbers of the players and TV? Remember that the Pioneer uses the older HDMI 1.2 spec and you may have to tinker with things to get devices to work properly when connected using HDMI cables.

Is every Elite named product now that old?

ps but yes, details on all gear involved would be helpful....

Kept thinking about the HDMI spec. No idea about the other devices, but PYEPYE might have luck switching video output of the blu-ray players to 1080i for the Pioneer so it doesn’t choke on the signal. No idea about current cables either but new cables may not fix the Pioneer bottle neck.

Hello,
First thanks for all the great feedback,
So my system is :
AVR Pio Elite-VSX-82TXS (I believe 10 to 12 years old)
Samsung Blu-Ray (#1) Bd-D6500
Samsung Blu-,Ray (#2) UBD-M7500
4 to 7 years old
TV Samsung UN65JU6700 FXZA
I run Dish Hopper for TV
Cox high speed cable for internet.
Just put on all 8k HDMI cables....
All hooked up via 2.2 HDMI
Speakers on all 7 channels, 2 big subs

I am slowly getting the AVR dialed in, but still cannot get the blu-ray discs on either unit to play without constantly pausing, play, blackscreen, play blackscreen, on and on......
Put in a standard disc no issues....plays like a champ...Great pic and sound....brilliant....
Does this mean the Pio AVR will not support the BluRays signal?
Do these players upscale the standard disc signal or is it the AVR, or both?
Is it a 1.4 hdmi issue?
I tried to change the output of the BluRay DVD players but could not figure it out...

Any help....thanks folks, your awesome...

The Pioneer is HDMI 1.2. Try going into the TV settings in the external devices section and turn off UHD color. Try blu-ray discs again. If you are still having issues, go into resolution settings in the players and switch them from auto to 1080i. See if that helps.

Question,

Is the sound and picture vastly different between the standard disc and the BluRay disc in a set?

The reason I'm pushing to get my BluRay discs to play is I am under impression its a much better experience,
But currently a standard disc through this Elite is awesome

Yes, press the MENU button on the blu-ray player remote control. It will bring up the setup menu. You want to click on the Settings gear wheel on the right side of the screen. It will bring up options. You want to click on display options and scroll down the list to resolution settings and select 1080i.

Are you playing a disc, or using the BD players for streaming? If the latter, hard wire them to the network. If you're playing discs, does this happen with all discs, or just a few? Have you checked the discs for damage, dust, etc?

I'm guessing he can play a dvd ("regular" disc") well enough but is having issues playing a bluray. Not sure. The only bluray player I had similar issues with playback of discs was a Samsung BD6100.

Well, the issue here is that the players and TV have different HDMI specs than the Pioneer receiver and we all know how that can lead to problems. The BD-6500 player will have a 1080i resolution option but the UBD-M7500 will have a 1080p option with no 1080i option. The TV may have issues with older spec HDMI devices when UHD color is set to ON for each of the HDMI inputs like other Samsung TVs. The trick is to find a setting in all of the devices so that a video signal from the player can go through the receiver without issue and go out to the TV.

Generally I’d say...maybe. Lol
Picture is almost always better on BD but seating distance and display
type/setup will be factors as well. Also, the lossless soundtracks are better as well. The problem with “some” of them is that despite having better audio resolution, there are BD soundtracks that have been neutered and have a 25-30hz filters in place limiting the LFE experience greatly. On example that always comes to mind is Master and Commander. The dts track in dvd has almost full band content(down to 4hz iirc) while the BD version is filtered below 30hz. It’s painful to listen to the BD version after the dvd. The ULF just adds to the cannon blasts and when the cannon balls rip through the room, and the couch(and everything else) shudders, it’s just plain awesome.
