Personally I wouldn't want ceiling speakers for main speakers but I don't want a simple system like you do with concern about aesthetics
I like the idea of putting the soundbar on top to get it out of the way, but it may not look any better up there. Would be relatively free with what you have.
If you want speakers in the ceiling you'll likely need some sort of amp and a way of controlling it, and have its own aesthetic issue perhaps, altho it could be small and use a remote control; ceiling installation, wiring, etc. can be expensive, tho. At least can't say I've seen active/powered ceiling speakers. I'd rather have in-wall just for acoustic reasons. A friend of mine otoh has in ceiling speakers throughout his house, including his tv, and he's quite happy with the sound altho I wouldn't be.
If you don't like the looks of a soundbar don't know about a pair of speaker boxes, but active/powered speakers would at least have the amps built-in.
