Again, wife issues, yes I have been with her twenty years. She wouldn’t allow the bass on when she was around as she doesn’t like it. So I would listen without when with her then listen with when on my own.
I have been married to my wife for 51 years. She made me do this. It is her system and she loves it.
A 1000 watt, all channels driven 3.1 in wall system. Yes, even the sub is in wall.

But you still can have large speakers and make them seem right for the room.

A 7.2.4 room with fairly large speakers. We really only got a chance to fill the theater two or three times before Covid hit. My wife loves that room also for the blockbusters. I use it a lot, especially for streaming concerts and opera, and also playing all kinds of media and production work.
The secret is making the system integral with the room.
