For what it's worth, here is a recent ASR review of a B&W 805S bookshelf speaker. This model is not a recent B&W product – it has the abandoned yellow Kevlar mid-woofer. It's performance, in the opinion of the reviewer, is less than stellar. I agree.

The high resolution acoustic measurements reveal the problems that plagued B&W's Kevlar driver, and their unreasonable insistence at crossing it over to the tweeter at such a high frequency.
Indeed, Swerd. ;) I forgot to mention the raised high end, too.

I would not be interested in that speaker, but I was thinking some of the 800 towers. Don't even really need the diamond tweeter, but it would be nice to just have that experience. :)

Sound United must have gotten B&W for a steal, otherwise why would you want this brand?

I wouldn't say it was a steal. B&W has a global reach. They are not just speakers for home. They are also in cars, studios, etc.. They have a large marketing budget compared to others. Sound United is like the VW in a way. They have their lower end stuff and now they have the high end stuff like B&W and everything else in-between. They own Marantz, Denon, Classe' and others so they can always mix and match and pair with their speaker brands. I think this purchase was a no brainer for Sound United.
