Fellow Friends and Readers: To the manufacturers, remember when the Turntable/Phono Inputs went away / were removed? Then there was a resurgence of the Turntable creating a segment of Outboard Preamps (non high end there always where the high end ones) and the return of Vinyl. All of a sudden all receivers started bringing back the Phono Input. So now unknowingly / knowingly to all, the receiver makers have take out the tape loop. The top of the line receiver and do not have tape loops. No way to connect a cassette deck (Vintage 3 head) or Reel to Reel. There maybe a resurgence of the Cassette but there is no place to connect as the outputs are volume controlled. No place to put an equalizer or processor. Less fun. So maybe lose the Component video Inputs that no one uses and make some room. So if the cassette comes back will we see the tape loop coming back?

With drm considerations I doubt it will be coming back, let alone the analog gear...

Yes there is a way. I configured my Yamaha RX-A3060 zone 2 output as the tape out and it feeds the REC input of my tape deck so Im able to record.

DRM are more prevalent for digital files. Analog its 60's tech. Home taping is part of fair use. But I get you. However , if there is a cassette resurgence like vinyl, hopefully we will see a comeback.

You mean there is some drm that applies to analog? :)

Film cameras are making a comeback, too, right?

Agreed. I'm not sure if any higher end blank cassettes are even made anymore.
As you know, I love the media and its fun to work with but I dont see the cassette media comeback like the vinyl revival. Metal and chrome tapes use heavy metals in their fabrication process, a big environmental no-no. Dolby holds the patents for Dolby B and C and will not release the licenses for 3rdparty fabrication. Cassette decks manufacturered today are a big joke. No noise reduction, horrendous wow and flutter specs, dismal frequency response and poor SNR specs. Im not holding any hope out for a come back.
