How to find out year of manufacturing from serial number (Yamaha Receiver)?

Is is possible to figure the year of manufacturing of my Yamaha receiver, RX-777, from serial number. Thanks.

Does it really matter when between 2001-5 yours was produced? (per hifiengine.com). You could ask Yamaha....

Hifiengine.com is great for older gear. Came up as one of top results for Yamaha RX-777 on duckduckgo....
