Need surround speaker form factor advice

We're able to remove a wall between our living room and kitchen during our home reno. I originally planned the surrounds to be in wall, but now I have nowhere to put that rear right speaker for my 5.2.4 setup.

I'm looking for guidance on how to be relatively safe for a 1 and 3 year old. If I do bookshelf speakers, they need to screw into the stand. Floor standing options need to be hard to tip. What do you think are the best options that get the surrounds high enough to be ear level, but stable enough they don't fall over with slight bumps?

It's an older split level house so I'm stuck a bit with the layout and sectional. But it's a living room, not a theater room, so I'm ok with just a few seats being ideal. Rustic farmhouse style with oak floor and lots of whites/grays. I could probably scrape enough to bump up to the $3k-$4k range if it looks and sounds great. Considering the white Revel Concerta2 or Paradigm Premier lines.

Thoughts?

I like the idea of hanging them. Depending on the dimensions of your speakers, there may be some generic macrame potted plant hangers that you could use with minor adjustment!

Those are the mounts I use for my surrounds, I have mine hanging from the ceiling aimed at the listening position. They also make heavier duty mounts if you end up with heavier speakers for your surrounds.

Are you looking to purchase all the speakers with your budget or do you have any of them already?

If you're going to go atmos though, I wouldn't recommend mounting them near the ceiling. Maybe some steel tube stands that you can fill with shot to make them heavy and stable?

@KEW I never even thought of that as a possibility. After my initial shock of the idea, that's pretty cool.

@NINaudio I have 4 ceiling speakers for atmos installed already, so that way my concern - that the surrounds would sound too close to the atmos spakers. I followed the Atmos install guide on placement and angle for the part of the sectional we'll always sit in, so they are pretty much ideal placement.
I like the idea of a heavy stand. That's part of the initial appeal for the Revel concerta2 towers- they are heavy enough they will take a bigger hit to fall over.

I don't have speakers yet. I bought a Klipsch setup previously, but I am going to put them downstairs in the kids living room now. Keeping Klipsch for atmos since they aren't nearly as important as LCR. I do like how they sound, but I know the budget can buy a hell of a nice set of speakers that I won't feel the need to upgrade in a year (well, no promises).

I'm glad KEW posted about hanging speakers. I'm planning on doing something similar, but I had figured some folks here would've found that idea offensive, lol.

That’s funny. My dad hung medium three way floor standers in huge planters in the late 70’s. My mom was not a fan. I thought it was cool.

Take a look at Triad speakers. They have every type of speaker imaginable and they will customize speakers to your specifications if needed. Triad InRoom Bookshelf speakers have optional stands that can be filled with sand or kitty litter to keep them stable. The speakers screw directly to the stand for added stability. www.triadspeakers.com

If you need any help please let me know.

As a follow up I am going to start with bookshelf speakers on stands to try it out. I really want them ear height to get the most immersive experience, and the Sanus SF34 I got look stable (enough).

Going with Revel Concerta2 M16s for surrounds, and F36/C25 for LCR. Can't wait for the house to get back together and finally hear this! Insulation is tomorrow and drywall next week. Probably 1.5 - 2 months out from actually moving back in.

Sharing a pic of the wall the TV/HT setup will be on. 12 guage wire to all speakers, only the center is not run through wall. 1.5" PVC pipe for TV cables so I can fit multiple HDMI cables. Dedicated 20A circuit for receiver, amp, etc. Ethernet run from main router to a switch I'll install here. And I have one subwoofer cable (thanks Monoprice for having CL2 rated RCAs) running to the side wall where the second sub will go. Ignore the crazy routing, the studs are old and have a few weak looking spots. wasn't doing another hole there for the front right speaker, so I went up and over the bad spot.

And yes, all power/signal wire intersections are perpendicular.
