REW and my windows 7 laptop

I'm new to REW and started playing with it. The laptop doesnt have a dedicated soundcard per say. It has 2 35mm output jacks, an HDMI port, and a 35mm mic input jack. I've updated Java on this laptop to v8.261 . I connected HDMI laptop to HDMI input on the front panel of AVR and set the AVR volume so that it read -45 db. I connected the mic input jack to my Radio Shack meter and have also instructed REW to use the calibration file for that particular model. The meter was set to 70dbfs, C weighting, slow response. On REW, I set the frequency range to 20Hz - 20KHz and set the outpit to -25dFS. Im not sure how accurate these measurements are but here's a graph of PEQ-Thru (no correction) and YPAO.

Change your vertical scale to 45-105 dB. The current 220 dB scale which will make a Grand Canyon graph look like a Kansas prairie.

IIR, the RS meters are only accurate out to ~3-4 kHz. They’re really best for low-frequency measurements.

Yup, that huge scale (20 dB increments) isn't nearly enough resolution to see what's going on in your room.

Thanks for the input. Im just learning this REW stuff now. One thing I learned since I posted these images was to calibrate the mic on the RAT SHACK meter so things have changed.

Im having another issue. I cannot get REW to give me more than 2 channels even with the HDMI connection. Im able to send test signals to each speaker but for some reason, I cant measure more than 2 channels + sub.

Rat shack? I use a UMIK 1 mic, so you lost me a little bit there. In my research I stumbled across something that talked about Java only being able to measure front left and right. Asio will allow you to do all speakers, but it's a steeper learning curve. Lots more room for error. I prefer Java. I never really found it necessary do all of them anyway. The front 2 for music are the main ones for me. Oh, and sub. Of course.

I used mine in the past. It works OK as long as you get a good calibration file, but the USB mics are much better IMHO.

This is the one I see most commonly used. It's the one they sell bundled with the MiniDSP 2x4 HD.

The other usual culprit for a mic might be the Daytom UMM-6. Or maybe Dayton's Omnimic systems, but that's a bit different and has it's own software (but the mic is useable with REW too).

Same as @Pogre. I like it and it's integrated with REW very well. Really, any good RTA USB mic should work very well.

Wow. The UMIK-1 retails for $185 and the Dayton retails for $221 here in Canada. Its a little out of my price point at the momement. I will stick the radio shack meter for the time being.

I do agree, $185 Canadian does seem a bit higher than expected.

OP is in Canada, where currently $1 USD = $1.35 Canadian, so that $90 local already takes him to $121.

Add some import duties and shipping, and likely $150 Canadian would be reasonable.
