I had an pioneer lx 302 which died around 3-4 months back. Lasted 16 -18 months hardly.

Question I had was with so many recievers failing frequently, why the asc sucks. Specially in India where asc is hardly there. Why don't the manufacturers improve the asc?

Why don't they improve the manufacturing?

Overseas support for products is a major issue. We don't see it that often in the USA, but I see it a TON with projectors and the major influx of the Chinese garbage projectors which are out there. A lot of them are importing their products through Amazon or Gearbest and people are jumping on the false advertising and flat out lies, only to be disappointed with quality and then not have proper support.

The reality is that most of these items still have typical 2% of so failure rates, and that all consumers are going to have some electronics issue long term. It's up to the purchaser to be aware of local support and how strong it is for any product they buy, then weigh that against what they are buying. In the USA, I would have a very hard time buying a XGimi projector with how poor their US support is. But, Epson has very strong US support of their products.

I'm not sure how that relates to India, or any other foreign nation. You have to check for yourself who has strong local support and will warranty your item.

I will say that I've never had an A/V receiver go completely bad on me yet. Yamaha and Denon have treated me well. I've had certain snafus over the years requiring a full factory reset, but for the most part, I just have used my product without problem. I think that's how it works for most people.

Yes, it's bad that every manufacturer can't fully support the products which people purchase locally. But, it is just as much on the buyer to beware, and more importantly, to be aware.

What's asc? What particularly died on your Pioneer? Was it kept well ventilated? Sorry to hear about your lack of support, tho.

Based on the thread title I'm assuming it is After Sale Care.
Well I kept ending up with "ass" from what he posted :) What kind of warranty did that unit come with in India I wonder, too. I do remember my last Pioneer started to crap out just after warranty (2 years) expired, tho.

Asc = authorised service centre.

Device auto shuts off within 3 seconds. Doesn't start. Yes it was well ventilated

Hahaha it's authorised service centre. I read similar thing about pioneers. The worst is one pioneer already says they don't support discontinued models which is wierd given lx 302 is not that old.

Thanks, that didn't occur to me, don't think I ever would think of them where I need to refer to them as an acronym. I think most of the electronics guys have closed their own service centers for the most part (I used to work near a couple many years ago) and have largely gone to either regional facilities or even just contractors, some with only a single location. Real estate costs, labor costs and our general attitude of disposable consumer items have conspired to such results (or perhaps simply more reliable goods?). I suppose even if supported, they can run out of a run of boards they stocked perhaps sooner than planned due to unexpected issues....I've read about such with a variety of consumer electronics. Nature of the speed of the technology to an extent.

If you can't get it to run for more than 3 seconds probably not much to be done. How about a non-authorized but competent electronics repair shop to analyze at least?

...Hard to find in Hyderabad, India.
This blows me away!

Hyderabad has more people in it than Los Angeles, California does. Perhaps not over the entire metro area, but it is a very large city and should have an extremely diverse technological capability. I really am speaking from a position of ignorance here, but am shocked that electronics repair shops aren't pretty well established. I would think that there would be a ton of electronics shops available and that they would have a good handle of local repair shops, or at least people, that could help out customers who run into issues.

All that said, I would think major manufacturers, like Denon, Yamaha, and Pioneer would also know local repair specialists in metropolitan areas with almost 10 million people.

It all seems rather strange to me. But, it may also be a lost cause on the receiver if it is outside of warranty. It rarely is economical to repair a piece of electronics.

Even though the population is high. In india Audiophile population is pretty low, though growing with inline with growing purchasing power. Hence the specialised electronic shops are low.

How about shipping the unit to somewhere in the country that does do this sort of work or is authorized?

Well get hold of them and tell them to fix it and if they can't give you your money back. What is the problem with it anyway? Does it turn on, go into protection or is it just dead?
