200 watt amp into 125 watt speakers

Long time lurker, first time poster. Greetings all. Apologies if this is in the wrong place or if its been covered, but I did do a bit of a search and didn't find what I was looking for. I've been into home theater for awhile but only processor/amp combos, never separates. Lately I've been on a bit of a two channel gear binge, and I just picked up a pair of Athena Technologies AS-B1-1(s). Also looking at an Adcom 5500 amp. Question is, can I run the Athenas with the Adcom without blowing them up or something. The speakers are rated at 125 watts, and I assume that's RMS? Amp is rated at 200 watts per channel. I know it's usually fine to have more watts than less, but is this gap too much?

Go online and Research, How many watts can speakers take. You have already answered your own thread by knowing more power is better than under powering.

I appreciate the replies thus far. Yeah, I have a feeling it will be okay, but I feel like I'm unfamiliar waters with the power difference and would like some reassurance before I blow up my new FB marketplace finds. Lol.

the only risk you have is if you get nuts with the volume knob. most of the time you will be running your speakers with probably 1 watt of power or thereabouts. no harm, no foul there. If you start crankin the volume up you may burn some more watts, but it takes a lot of volume knob to get to the end of the line. The only issue you have is that the amp can produce more current than the speakers can tolerate at very high listening volumes. But those speakers will be delivering a sound pressure level that should drive you out of the room first.
