New Denon avr-x3600 owner

Hello my fellow Audioholics. After much debate I have decided to go with the 3600 over the 4500. I just could not justify the price difference to go with the 4500. The main differences I see are 20 watts in power and Auro 3D. I went for a refurbished unit from Accessories 4 less for 799. I am coming from an
Onkyo tx nr 838 wich served me well for years. It only offered Atmos 5.2.2, no DTS X or it’s up mixer. I have no experience at all with Audyssey and would very much appreciate any advice or tips from the kind of experienced people here. I also plan on purchasing the Audyssey app, unless I am talked out of it by experienced users saying it not worth it. Thanks for any help are advice I may receive.

Briefly on the Audyssey thing, the first mic position is to be at your primary listening position, and it determines the basic level/delay settings. I get the best results with the rest of the mic positions surrounding my main seat in a radius of about 1.5 to 2 ft. All at ear level and I use a mic boom for ease of placement (got it "free" with an amp purchase a while back), a tripod can work well, too. A nice quiet time to do it helps, altho not generally a deal killer....altho once in the middle of the Audyssey run I had a flock of birds start making a racket and that calibration did sound odd afterwards so I re-ran it. There are good guidelines in several places, avsforum and hometheatershack fora come to mind. I have an older Denon with XT32 and wish I could use the app, I'd definitely get it....

Yes to the XT32 + App. The app gives you much better control than just running Audyssey through the AVR. There are several threads that have already discussed using the app, and a quick search on AH should get you too those pretty quickly!

I’m also very excited to get both of my subs dialed in seperatly. I am hoping this feature helps Because I am putting alont of faith in this this feature.

The ability to set level and delay for two subs might be interesting if you can't make them equidistant from your listening position particularly....but is better than not having that option. Audyssey has said the program is capable of even more subs but apparently no avr manufacturer wanted to dedicate the necessary processing power to accommodate such. Limiting a feature to an expected user set rather than wider capabilities....meh.

Since I cannot put proper ceailing speakers, I am still debating on piutting the SVS prime elevation speakers up high on the side walls up near the ceiling, or near the ceilings in the front and back of the room . Are there any pros and cons of doing either one of these. I would love to get everybody opinions on this especially if you Have experience in this type of instillation.

I don't have an answer for you as I have only ever had just straight 5.1, but it hasn't even been a half hour since your last post. There's no need to bump the thread, it will be seen and if people can help you they will.

I was just going to add that the Audyssey experience will allow you to place your subs wherever you want relative to your LP... then you will set them each to a matched SPL, after which Audyssey will treat them as a single unit. Using the app does give you better control over this unit... but after that initial phase, ANY adjustment will be applied to the whole. (Except for level... audyssey will give you independent level control.)
Better control is available via a tool like miniDSP 2x4HD and using REW to take measurements and program. (More complicated, yes, but can be used to great effect.)
Otherwise... learn about using the Subwoofer Crawl if possible and finding the best acoustic homes for your sub(s). That PLUS Audyssey may yield some pretty good results. That plus REW (Room EQ Wizard) may yield exceptional results.

Onkyo AVR 809 blew power supply...after years with Onkyo, finally getting away from..
Going to use 2 subs and a 3 channel amp I think
