Trade a killer combo for a Swan M300 + an apartment

Hey everyone,

Here's the deal (and maybe the most weird question you're going to read today) . I have the following system in my living room: Yamaha RX-A2080 + two Klipsch RP-600M + SVS PB-3000. I think that's an awesome combo and it is basically all I can have and asked for in a 2.1 system.

The problem is I'm sitting on a golden mine. My apartment have been neglected by me. I feel kind of ashamed of how it is right now. I need to completely renovate it and now I'm considering selling my system to help me do that. I live in Brazil and, believe me, that system is pretty valuable here.

The plan would be to reduce the system to a pair of Swan M300 (or Edifier's). I just saw Z's review and the man praises it like it's a demigod. Maybe in the future I can have a new killer combo.

Would I die doing that? Probably not. I love watching movies with that system. Listening to some music is very nice too, although I don't use it a lot for it because of my neighbors.

But the question is: how big is the difference between those two sets? Would you think that I'd get bored making that exchange?

Cheers!

You rent? If so why do -you have to pay to renovate it. ?

Or do you own a house ?
Do you think selling your system will even make you enough money. ??
I’ve not heard either speaker but why sell your system just to just to buy more speakers?? are they cheaper models
You usually lose a ton of cash when selling electronics unless you got them cheap well below market price .
Best of luck, get whatever sounds the best to you .
I would keep tor system you may not find another one you like that much , svs is a beast brand ??
I’m confused are you getting a free house or apartment for your system ?

Man, I really laughed out loud reading you answer. I imagined you thinking "what a crazy person is that?".

I do own my apartment. But, as I said, it is shamefully neglected. I can sound paranoid saying that but I don't invite my friends here because I feel I'll leave a horrible impression (my mom passed me that through her DNA).

I won't loose a lot of money reselling that system because they are hard to find in Brazil. I asked a guy that works in a importation company to bring the speakers and the sub.

So, with that money, I could pay a nice part of my apartment's renovation.

You do what you need to do. If you can't raise the money any other way....but if you can instead manage a modest system until you can get back on your feet so to speak (audio-wise), a couple of active speakers can go a long way....not familiar with the ones you're looking at, tho. How much would a JBL 306 or 308 model cost there? How much do the Swans go for? Not sure what choices you have there.....

JBL's are pretty easy to find here. One of the easiest, actually. Do you suggest going for the active JBLs?

I have a pair of the LSR305s, like them a lot, just got them for fun, though, as the price was right (USD 180 delivered new) and I'd been reading nice things about them. I'd probably go with the 308s if they were my only speakers/no sub, tho. Might depend what you want to use them with for sources.

I have to agree on the JBL 305's. I run a pair with the matching sub in my loft for the computer and they sound great.

He mentioned he wants to sell his older gear (avr, speakers, sub) which he can get good money for, and downsize to a less expensive pair of active speakers. He owns his apartment (think condo in US terms) and wants to use the proceeds of the sale of his older gear to do some upkeep/refurbishing of his apartment.
