Optimal Input Out from Marantz SR6013 to LG 4K TV

Hello Guys - I still seem to be confused and conflicted as to which input connections to use for best 4K and Dolby HDR 4.2.2 Display and Audio settings.

Here's my Gear:

LG 4K C9 OLED
Marantz SR6013
Apple 4KTV
Sony 4K BR Player

So on the AVR which OUTPUT to use?

Monitor 1 ARC
Monitor 2
Zone 2

And then which HDMI input on the LG?

I think most agree here that ARC is useless at this junction in time because it doesn't pass lossless audio??

I believe as described I should have the AVR control everything and only have the LG be the dummy "Monitor"

So in that case how do I setup the inputs and the other devices for optimal Audio and Video in 4K and HDR+, etc

Thanks in advance.

I would use that same HDMI port on both devices, just don't turn on ARC. No biggy. :)

That’s where the confusion

I don’t see and areas to turn off arc

Should I just avoid the arc input entirely?

Am I looking at the avr or lg to turn off arc??

I see on the lg audio arc on/off but when I deselect it audio goes away altogether!

when I plug mine in, I am asked if I want to use it to control everything. I just say no. Should also be settings in both TV and AVR to toggle if not prompted. You can always change it later if you feel something is wrong. Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I don't seem to be having any issues. :)

Also, if using the apps on the TV, you should connect a separate audio cord for tv-to-avr audio. I just use the toslink on my sony as there is no coax option.

What input do I set the AVR for audio to come out of Marantz?

¿confused?
whichever input is sending signal to your marantz, you select that... i.e. if you plug into Aux1, you select that, and it should send signal to your speakers. If something is different, like a toslink input, go through your AVR settings and make certain it is assigned to the correct channel (optical audio input for aux1, or whatever is pertinent).

I think you're overthinking this, but you should be able to turn ARC on/off....so I looked at the LG manual (for a 65" if it makes any difference) and that is truly one of the lousiest manuals I've ever used. I didn't see a section on the hdmi setup tho. Maybe the ARC port on the tv should be avoided if it tries to automatically use ARC....dunno, maybe I missed something in the lousy manual.

Ok thanks
I’ll just run it to monitor 2 which is not arc

I was thinking more of avoiding the ARC designated input on the tv rather than the Marantz hdmi output marked as such, as in the Marantz you can turn ARC and HDMI control off (p. 180 of your manual). Always better to think of connections in terms of signal flow, too (which can be confusing with ARC as it's merely a limited return audio channel feature).

Here lies the issue - the inputs on the devices are reversed - the Marantz has NON arc at input monitor 2 and the LG has non arc on Input 1!

What do I do to avoid arc altogether!!

The the inputs on both devices have to match at the connection?
First, the hdmi ports on the Marantz relevant to the tv are outputs, not inputs (except the confusing Audio Return Channel on the hdmi connection when ARC is turned on). Since you can disable ARC entirely on the Marantz, it doesn't matter which HDMI output you use. Experiment with the non-ARC input on the tv as well as the ARC input on the tv.....

Still overthinking this. :) Experiment and learn, read your manual, play with the settings. Enjoy!
