Anthem avm60 with rotel amps?

ATM I’m using a anthem avm60 with a Emotiva xpa-9 powering a 3.1 setup since I sold the rest of my theater for a cleaner look. My question is when I sell my Emotiva will the rotel 1582 mk2 or 1585 work well with the avm60 for my 702 S2 htm71 S2 set up or do I need a different pre pro as well. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated

Amps and pre-pros are typically interchangeable. It's pretty rare when they aren't.

You don't need another Pre-pro unless you need some new features.

You would need at least a 3Ch amp for a 3.1 system, so the Rotel 1585 (5Ch) or another 3Ch amp would be better than the 1582 (2Ch).

Ah ok I was going to go with a 1582mk 2 since the Emotiva XPA-9 would cover that cost then purchase a 1585 later as I rarely use my center these days.

I’m glad to hear that the avm60 will work well with the rotel lol just bought that a few months ago would hate to have to get a new one

So you don't plan on ever going back to 5.1?

Eventually when I move but right now just my 3 channel with my svs sb16, dislike the Emotiva after 7 months and trying to get rid of it to get the rotel to bring the warm laid back sound to my system.

The AVM60 or any high quality pre-pro will work well with the Rotel or any other high quality amp.

No such thing as "synergy" about these things.

Plus the Emotiva doesn’t fit in my bdi corridor av cabinet and corridor table

The amps have nothing to do with the "brightness" or "warmness" of your system.

The room acoustics, speaker placement, and EQ and DSP of your pre-pro would do that.

However, there is nothing wrong with wanting to get rid of any EMO amp and buying a Rotel, ATI, Anthem, Parasound, Adcom, etc., amps. :D

Ah so my B&W will still be bright even with rotel paired with the avm?

Was thinking rotel bc of the slim design and the depth isn’t as much as the Emotiva

I have a 5 channel Parasound amp with a Denon receiver as the processor. Working just fine.

I was originally looking at an a31 but it’s huge.....wouldn’t fit in the cabinet plus the weight is over 50 lbs

Absolutely. Unless you can bias your brain to think otherwise. :D

I don't know about your Anthem pre-pro. But if it has a nice Parametric EQ (like my Yamaha CX-A5100 pre-pro), you can simply manually decrease the amplitude of some of the frequencies in the smallest 0.5dB increments if the sound is too "bright".

For example, you can decrease the 8kHz and 10.1kHz frequencies by 0.5dB or 1.0dB or more. You can easily move it back to 0.0dB if it makes the sound too "warm".

0.0dB is neutral.

Bottom line - audiophile amps usually have a FR of 20Hz-20kHz +/- 0.0dB (usually no more than 0.5dB variance). So they will sound NEUTRAL, not warm (-1.0dB or more) or bright (+1dB or more).

If you want to change the sound to warmer, you need to somehow decrease the amplitude of the upper midrange and treble frequencies.

Interesting, I haven’t played with the anthem much since buying it. I might need to adjust certain things like u said to my preference, still I think the rotel would possibly be better sounding than the Emotiva tho...or at least I would assume so

Anthem is outrageously priced for the 2 and 3, rotel seems much better price wise going into mid fi
