Testing Subwoofer imput signal & or subwoofer speaker

Yamaha Natural Sound AV Receiver Model # HTR-5450

Monoprice Powered 8" Subwoofer Model # MSUD-A082

Is there away to check the subwoofer output signal , to confirm if the signal is

working correctly.
My powered subwoofer wasn't working correctly( Alot of background static) ,

Replaced builtin amp with a brand new one but still just alot of background static &

nothing else.
PLEASE HELP ???

A multimeter. I might be wrong but it should read 2.83 volts. If your getting 0 then you that’s your indicator

If you have left and right or zone 2 pre outs you can connect to one of them just to check if clear or same.

No, you can't test it with a multi meter. You need an O-Scope. Best to connect it to a known good preamp like the preouts zone 2 or other channel preout if you have them and see what it sounds like.

This would be an unusual fault for a receiver, but possible. More likely than not you have a driver with either a damaged voice coil, or cone voice coil separation.
So connect the drive directly to a speaker output and see what you get.
