So she loved the change...err... Yeah not so much!
But I think I turned her around when we watched the fantastic Alien movie from the anthology last night. She could not believe how much more open, even, and clear the sound was in this less than aesthetically pleasing presentation.
Definitely need some surrounds to get the 3d immersion I'm looking for. Hopefully I can find a carpenter to open up the front, so I can get a pair of those beautiful SongTower RT's up there.
Tbh, the low end from the Sunfires is remarkably defined, tight, and thick when needed. I think a larger pc-4k would help with overall pressurization, but that is lower on the list with the new cost of remodel and towers added to the budget.
Current short term plan:
Open the front sound field via remodel.
Get some appropriate surrounds in place.
Replace the Marantz sr5007 with an anthem 720.
Long term plan:
Get towers and matching center for front field.
Revise in ceiling placement and quality.
Reconfigure and rack mount gear with integrated control system.
In the meantime I'm going to enjoy what sounds like the system that I had been so accustomed to hearing (at least up front).
PS. I know they aren't made anymore, but do any of you know if there are any professional reviews of the focal chorus 807v? The cc800 center leaves something to be desired, but the bookshelves themselves sound nice.
