Do Speakers Have Voltage Rating Like 120v And 240v?

Hello. I'm thinking of selling my Wharfedale Diamond 220 and 220c speakers and replace them with something better. I've always wanted to own Klipsch or Polk speakers but unfortunately my local store only sells Wharfedale and Mission brand speakers. I may be able to import Klipsch or Polk speakers from Amazon if a seller is willing to ship to Fiji. My main concern is that do speakers have voltage rating? Fiji has a rating of 240v while America is 120v. I know that products like televisions, soundbars, av receivers and subwoofers have voltage rating but not sure about speakers.

Not as such no, its the amp/reciever that powers the speakers and the output from those dont differ by region.

Thank you for replying. So it's perfectly fine for me to import klipsch speakers from America and use them with my Denon avr-x2300w that's rated at 240v?

Just adding in case. This applies to passive speakers, klipsch do have some active ones also that needs to be plugged into the powergrid and those might not be compatible.

Yes.

Thank you for your help, sir. You're a lot better than that Klipsch employee I contacted on Facebook that gave me the wrong information. That person said that their American speakers won't work in Fiji. I was sad the whole day thinking I'll never be able to own Klipsch speakers.

I was actually planning to get the RP-400C and RP-400M Klipsch speakers from Amazon. That's if any seller is even willing to ship to Fiji. The R-15PM speakers are active, aren't they? I don't want those.

I should add though that you might/probably will get better sound with a higher quality wharfedale then a lesser model klipsch with the, i imagine, very high shipping costs to Fiji for the money spent.

I agree with you about the shipping fees and that I'll have to pay twice as much for the speakers since Fiji dollars is less than USD. Then there is the 9% VAT I'll have to pay to the customs here in Fiji for the speakers.

Is your room fairly small or do you have a good subwoofer?

Wharfedale Diamond 220 speakers are good but they sound a bit too warm and aren't very dynamic. The dialogue from the 220c isn't very crystal clear as well. Wharfedale makes some good speakers for 2ch music listening but they're way too expensive for me. Besides, Wharfedale doesn't seem to be a big hit in America. Everywhere I see on the internet, it's brands like SVS, Klipsch, Polk, Goldenear, B&W and M&K that seem to be in high demand. I've never seen American people posting videos on YouTube of their home theater setup with Wharfedale speakers.

Wharfedale speakers are available in the US somewhat, but definitely not as well marketed here in the US as Klipsch and some other brands. Have read many good comments from people posting about their Wharfedales, tho I couldn't tell you particular models. How much extra is it to buy a speaker shipped specially to Fiji?

I currently have my 7.1 Wharfedale speakers setup in my living room which isn't very big or great. It's not even my house. I just rent there. It's not a dedicated home theater room but I did everything I could to ensure that the speakers were placed correctly and put some carpets on the tile floor to avoid reflection. I have the Mission MS 10 subwoofer which I bought for FJ$700. Electronics are really expensive in Fiji. You'll be surprised when I tell you the price of televisions here.

If I were to buy speakers from Amazon, you mean? The Klipsch RP-400C speaker is US$299 on Amazon. Cheap for you guys but expensive for me. I'd be paying around FJ$645.52. Don't know about the shipping costs.

I'd ask Amazon if they will ship to Fiji, if they do their buying power in logistics would work for you I'd think. Airfreight to Nadi isn't cheap! (am a former international logistics guy). Good luck!

I've never bought anything from Amazon or any other online store before. I usually buy things from my local stores. Don't know how much the airfreight cost will be.

I would carefully check out the freight costs....

Back from a walk, nice lovinthehd is active in the thread now also, good to get more opinions and information. I know a guy in northern sweden who had the wharfedale 220, he found them a bit too laid back but pleasant. They are probably made that way to be kind to cheaper electronics flaws. I have heard the klipsch you mention wanting and they are small. Yes they have a small horn but they are not like the bigger floorstanders klipsch have a lot of. They will probably sound crisper(which might be too much) and a bit clearer then the wharfedales but they might not fill a room quite as well. They are more expensive then the wharfedales so its to be expected that they sound a little better overall. They would need a lot of help from a sub in a 5.1 setup. I use similar size speakers(dali ikon 1) with a yamaha 350(i think) sub at my computer and listened to quite a lot of different smaller speakers when choosing. More recently what i heard from not much time listening to the small klipsch was nice for the price, but it might be a very good idea to consider wharfedale of a higher quality locally if thats not much more expensive then klipsch from amazon + shipping.
