Pioneer VSX-LX503 a good choice for 7.1.4 atmos?

What's Fry's Return policy on this? If they allow the 30-day return, I say get it and try it out. You can always return.

I think it will have enough power and sound quality. The only thing I am not as confident about is reliability, especially since Pioneer and Onkyo are owned by the same company.

But if the warranty is 3YR, I think $550 is good for 3YR. Probably should last longer.

Yep, I did do a look see on some of the reviews, some Owners are experiencing firmware issues. It is last year's model, Best Buy is selling it for 699.00.

Oh and most of the issues I’ve read threw all 13 pages were with appleTV4k and chrome cast, I do not use either. I’m fireTV PS4 and Xbox.

I’m setting up front and rear heights at 45 degrees to use as atmos / dts x, I used to use the pioneer up firing Dolby enabled and they were just terrible.

The latest and greatest, since I don't know what unit you have now, Atmos DTS-X,. I'm good with 5.1. I myself don't have the room for all the extra speakers I live in a apartment so it's really pointless for me. My Yamaha 7790 doesn't have Atmos, just TrueHD and MasterHD..all I need.

Lol.. same here I can do 5.2.4 but since I moved into a apartment, my setup is a very modest 5.1. sure I would like to do Atmos, I have to wait till I move to a rent house. When I moved I wasn't going to use my AVR, but after One day, don't think I made it a full 24 hours I couldn't take just the TV sound anymore it was killing me! So I pulled my gear out of the boxes and setup everything..lol I said, well I'm not going to live here but maybe 6 months or so..lol once you been in this AVR thing or hobby as long as I have it's No going back! It's like once you have a 50" HDTV going back to a 32" or smaller, you'll sell your blood to get a bigger HDTV .lol well for me anyway.

Man, I had one wife that would sabotage my gear! Really she would spay cleaning products like glass cleaner furniture polish right into the vent on top of my AVR or amps! Yeah! Evil I tell ya! So when my Harmankardon 3600 failed i got her back! I went and cutoff one belt loop on all her expensive slacks! Lol plus, plus yeah it gets better I put that Nair hair removal in her shampoo! Lolo. Her hair started falling out..

Nice! I did that a lot..lol once I had ordered the whole line of Polk's LSi's ..lol, LSi-15's center and the two LSiFX surrounds plus two 505 Subs. Something like over 4K. Man she was mad! I went I could have gotten that Harley Davidson motorcycle I was looking at, still didn't go over well.

I’m no pro I just want my 4k hdr and sound as good or better then my Yamaha rx683,

I think this pioneer is an unbeatable value at this price point with a 3 year warranty to get you a 7.2.4 atmos / dts X sound stage.

In my opinion, the Pioneer will sound as good as your Yamaha Also a nice upgrade to boot!
