So for vinyl this noise thing wouldn't work too well? Tape hiss on other media? How do you define clarity or fidelity?

That's why I suggested a CD/SACD/DVD-A database. This allows user scores to be tabulated against DR measurements .

Again, all of these measures can be normative. Large sample sizes will resolve this.

ATM we have nothing other than stars on Amazon (so General as to me meaningless), a statement by an individual, or single person review.

Crowd sourced polling data, when combined with results from MAAT or DR software, is superior to what we (don't) have at the moment.

Keith Flint certainly made the most of opportunity, starting out as a DJ before moving up to become a band's dancer (LOL, I'm not making this up), lead vocalist and, finally, the public face of Prodigy.

Prodigy may not be everyone's brand of music. The recordings were compressed to the nuts. But they had quite a following and some catchy tunes.

His motorcycle racing team was quite successful, notching up several wins at the Isle of Man TT (one of the most difficult and intense road races out there).

RIP Keith.

1984 CD of Genesis' Abacab... purchased used before ripping in lossless and looped thru my music server and external DAC.

Superb sound, very little audible compression at all. Remarkably crisp!

What server and DAC do you use?

I use a dedicated MacBook Pro, with the software stripped down to support music storage and playback only.

My DAC is a Cambridge Audio DAC Magic Plus, connected to my MacBook by USB. This allows the DAC to take control of the MacBook when playing music.

I've been going through my Yes collection with Relayer being the latest album I listened too.

Relayer is often over shadowed by The Yes Album, Fragile and Close to the Edge, which were very good albums. It's too bad because Relayer deserves consideration as one of the band's better works.
