Buyer be aware that the amp section on the DT 9000 series are very suspect & they go bad very quickly or just before the warranty expires . You have to be warned the DT staff on the phone not helpful at all & very rude, they are quick to tell you it will cost you if the the 3 yr warranty is expired.
The cost is $355 +tax+ shipping to replace the defective amp. They knew will in advance that these amps were/are defective to begin with, but it's a matter how soon they go bad with your speakers is depend on how lucky you are.
RESPONSE
I bought the 7001 towers, clr2300 center and 1080 surround, You were right in what you said. Att 3 years and two months one tower went. I called Definitive. The Guy on the phone said don't worry about it as I wasn't registered with them for warranty. He then said "Okay mr Rogers, I'll get those TWO parts out to you. Me not realizing what he was doing, corrected him and said only one was bad. He then tried to say the same thing again. I corrected him again and was sent one replacement amp. 6 years after that, (9 years after buying them), the other tower went. I called the company, got what sounded like the same guy on the phone, explained all of the above and was again "registered" with my name and address and got another one sent free of charge.
I love these guys. I don't know if I got lucky, but they bought some brand loyalty from me. About two years away from moving and upgrading to another system. I would like to try something new, but probably won't, as all systems will eventually have a warranty issue.
