TX-RZ830 Video Blackout?!

Hello,

I just got a new TX-RZ830 and while watching a movie on Netflix from my XBOX ONE S my TV goes completely black for a second while sound keeps playing. It did it for the duration of Incredibles 2, for 2 hours. I have never had this happen during any other viewing. I just watched WALL-E on Blueray with no issues the whole time. Is it possible there is a problem with the XBOX One Netflix app or with my XBOX? My Amazon Fire TV seems to be keeping steady with no blackouts on the same movie.

The XBOX is hardwired for internet and the Fire TV relies on WiFi. I use my XBOX for almost all movies and TV viewing. It never happened on my TX-NR737 to my knowledge.

I rebooted my XBOX and it seems to have fixed the problem. Anyone else ever had problems with video blackouts?

Update: after reboot there were no blackouts for 40 minutes and they started again! What the H@%$?

Never experienced that in my life.

I also have never owned an Onkyo in my life. Probably never will.

Time to switch to Yamaha, which is supposed to have the best reliability and HDMI compatibility. :D

I can still return this. Every "best of" review says the Denon 4400/4500 is the best receiver. Should I just dump this Onkyo and get the Denon? Or some Yamaha?

I would stick to either Yamaha, Sony, or Denon/Marantz.

Yamaha is supposed to be #1 in reliability and HDMI compatibility. My Denon's HDMI wouldn't play well with my Direct TV receiver, but the Yamaha had no problem.

You can try the Denon first and see how well it works. You could always return it later and get the Yamaha if it doesn't work out.

Personally, Some people might have some luck, but I would never touch an Onkyo.

My previous Onkyo TX-NR737 worked very well for me, so I thought why not a “better” Onkyo. Price wise the Denon AVRX4400 is what I’m thinking. Yamahas are more expensive for similar specs.

I got the TX-RZ830 all packed up and ready to go back! Gonna go to my local HiFi shop to buy the Denon AVR-X4400H. It costs the same through Amazon. I was trying to save a couple hundred bucks by going with the Onkyo. Hopefully I'll be happy with Denon.

question for you tx-rz830 users. How do i enable 5.2.4? I can only find set-ups with a single subwoofer. I'm stuck in 5.1.4?

No such thing as 5.2.4. Only one lfe channel that exists. Onkyo is great at using the right terminology 5.1.4
