Q Acoustics has announced an all new Concept 300 standmounted speaker that looks to be a real winner. Once QA released the Concept 500 towers I knew sooner or later that they would eventually release a flagship standmount. Here are a few links w/more detailed info:

According to S&V, the Concept 300's will cost $4800 a set! Ouch! The stands shown in the pics just look very odd to me. But, they certainly are rather unique. If that is what QA was going for, then they have certainly succeeded. Can't wait for a professional review and some real world measurements!

Cheers,

Phil

I was highly intrigued by their other lines while I was researching speakers. I liked the looks of them. the Lady did too.

But d@mn those are some big boxes! I hope they perform accordingly. Seems pricey, but maybe they're on to something! ;)

I’ve never been one for Q Acoustic’s elongated cabinets but wow that is one long cabinet.

And those stands are sure to make a statement in someone’s room!

But here’s my thoughts, they are fixing problems that don’t exist? Redesigning the stand is cool and all but that’s so extra, and is the cost and performance difference worth it?

And then Q Acoustics has been known for their non resonant, well braced cabinets, but metal bracing also seems a bit extra... a well placed window brace or two would have the same effect, if not greater effect than whatever metal-triangle-pyramid design they got going.

Whatever, I’m just ranting at this point.

They look like great speakers, I’d love to hear them sometime. Plans on purchasing them in the future Phil?

I agree very pricey. Bit too rich for my blood. However, I do like the looks of them. Not exactly sure what to think about the stands. :)

I'm anti vibration, since I live on a wooden trampoline (my floor). But tripods take some space! You need a straight up mansion with no furniture. That price puts them in the realm of ELAC Adante standmounts, I think. I didn't audition them, but have heard good things.
That said, the stability is greatly improved!

I don't think the Adante Standmounts are quite as expensive. But, the Concept 300's are more than the Phil 3's. Even the Dyn's Special Forty's do not cost as much:

Its been a while since I was at that shop... must've been marked up. Oh well. With luck I'll see the Phil 3s by summer, and the BMRs are more outstanding than I could hope. ;) No market here! :)

Wished I could afford the BMR's. Not going into debt again buying speakers. Been there done that and it got me in a lot of trouble. Will be keeping my focus in the under $1K offerings. Actually, I am saving for that now as we speak. However, have a lot to consider. In fact, have already made my decision. Sadly, it will be a while yet before I can make my move and that is just fine by me. :) Congrats on the BMR's!

Wonder if they will discount the older Concept 20 series. I like the 3020 but the cabinet is not as nice as the Concept 20. :)

I think that the 3020's and the 3010's were discounted when the newer 3020i's/3010i's were released. The Concept 20's have been on sale quite often too. I have always been interested in the Concept 20's myself. Sure would love to give them a go. The 3020's are out of stock as we speak. It looks like the Concept 20's are at regular price as well:

How low have they offered the Concept 20s for?

Have seen them several times for $399 shipped! They ship out of Atlanta. As such, return shipping for me (West KY) should be reasonable. Might give them a go sometime down the road when my funds are better. :)

I wonder if the GF would notice a black pair of Concept 20s magically replacing the graphite 3020s in one of my rooms. LOL :)

Only if you stopped buying her gifts, taking her out to dinner, and stroking those oh-so-shiny curves instead of hers.;):p
