Deciding between Denon AVR-X6500H and Marantz SR8012

I know they are owned by the same company. The layout on the back is so similar except for the 7.1 channel input.
The reason why i am even thinking about the marantz is the 7.1 channel input because i have a few SACDs in a SONY dvpcx777es 400 CD changer and the stupid thing does not output SACD in the optical digital out connections and only on the analog outputs.
Right now i have 9.2 channel and thinking of expanding the number of speakers when we go into a new house (in maybe 2 years time) so buying a bit up market is the plan.

Any way i can listen to my SACDs on the new Denon without going to the Marantz line?

Are you set on keeping your existing CD player? A current SACD player can be had for under $200 and would have hdmi outs.

No player can do SACD through optical but many newer ones can through HDMI

I should add that in the past there could be reason to use the analog outputs of a good player such as the Sony ES models, but the newer Denon/Marantz mid range and up AVRs now have very high quality DACs on board and can decode DSD native without having to convert the signal to PCM, not that it matters to most people but to audiophiles.

Hmm. Good to know that newer players can play DSD native. Will look for one.

You might have misunderstood my point. I wasn't talking about media players. I meant the newer mid level D&M (Yamaha, Onkyo etc..).

Examples are:
Denon AVR-X3500H, Marantz SR6013, Yamaha RX-A1080 and higher models.

So even if you use a low cost Sony blu-ray player, such as the one I mentioned, you can select bit stream output via HDMI, the AVR will decode the SACD format, and the DAC (digital to analog converter) in those AVRs have much better specs (my reasonable assumption) than the one in even your Sony ES SACD player.

I just did a search and found that the BDP-S6700 is still available brand new for under $100. That seems to be the last non 4K Sony blu-ray player that can play SACDs. Other than that you will have to settle for the used or refurbished older models such as the BDP-S370, 380, 390, 790 etc.

Hopefully I'm not offending anyone. :D

Just wanted to speak my mind freely. :D

But I don't miss SACD or DVD-A at all with the new DSU and NeuralX upmixing technology.

But I suppose some people must have SACD just like some people must have Vinyl (not that they are equal or the same). :D

Good thing it's not up to me because if it were up to me, Pre-pros would only be HDMI Inputs/outputs and XLR outputs.:D

Vinyl doesn't come in 5.1 like SACD... ;)

Well, Geez, what good is Vinyl then?:D

Wait, you could upmix Vinyl with DSU and NeuralX. :D

Yamaha makes a vinyl player that streams to MusicCast. :D
Vinyl's not much good but for my nostalgia fix and stuff I don't have digital versions of. I could upmix vinyl, and sometimes do. I just can't buy a 5.1 mix on vinyl or 2ch cd....the reason I use SACD for is the multich mix.
