ARC can be a pain to get working correctly which is why I only use it to stream audio from Netflix and Amazon Prime from my LG Smart OLED TV, and then only occasionally, but it works fine. LG is pretty good about regularly updating those two and supporting 4K, HDR, and Atmos. Everything else (cable, ShieldTV, 4K Blu-Ray) goes directly to my Denon receiver which in my case works better than connecting those directly to the TV and relying on ARC for audio. As long as your receiver supports 4K I'd use the receiver as your AV switch and only use ARC for streaming services.
